Down Amongst The Cybermen

I don't want to CHANGE

again. NEVER AGAIN!

.....I can't keep on being

Somebody Else.

Geezer Butler (Among the Cybermen)

The Absolute Unit :

(He sits up with a gasp.)

Dr. Disco :

Sontarans! Perverting

The Course of human history!

....I don't want to go.

......When The Doctor,

when The Doctor was me....  When the Doctor was me.

It's starting. I'm regenerating. No! No! No! No! No! NO

(The regeneration stops, and

 The TARDIS has materialised.)

Dr. Disco

Where have you taken me?

If you're trying to make a point,

I'm not listening.

I don't want to CHANGE

again. NEVER AGAIN!

.....I can't keep on being Somebody Else.

Wherever it is, I'm staying

(He runs outside and

The Cloister Bell sounds.)

[Snowstorm]

Dr. Disco

No!

(He plunges his hands into The Snow

with a sizzle, and Heals The Earth (Thanks, Doctor)

The regeneration stops again.)

Dr. Disco

I will not change.

Old GrandFather

I will not change. I will not

No, no, no, no. The whole

thing's ridiculous

Dr. Disco

Hello? Is someone there?

Old GrandFather

Who is that?

Dr. Disco :

I'm The Doctor.

(The elderly figure in checked trousers,  cape,

scarf and astrakhan hat comes into view.)

Old GrandFather

The Doctor. Oh,

I don't think so.

No, dear me, no.

 You may be a Doctor,

but I am The Doctor.

The original, you might say.

(Taking hold of his lapels just like

William Hartnell used to do.)

The Death of Superman Lives  What Happened

Q. : What were your major influences like what were your favorite characters when you were a kid start growing up ?

Tim Burton :  "Well -- I  love movies and other -- mainly monster movies and uh Ray Harryhausen movies but i guess the genre that you know, horror movies, monster movies, science fiction films --

I Think my favorite uh obviously my favorite comicbook character was Batman just getting into the sort of [The] Psychology of The Superhero -- that was at that time, you know sort of new territory --

And so when I got involved with Superman, it was just a different sort of -- uh you know -- sort of exploration of that kind of feeling of being different and feeling  like somebody from another planet.

So those kind of themes were always quite strong in old monster movies, and then some of the comic books, you know, the graphic novel came into play the sort of psychology of the characters --

And so obviously, a lot of the comic book characters fit into that kind of mythology of somebody who doesn't you know fit in -- if somebody doesn't belong; and that sort of exploration of feeling like An Alien on a planet and being different and having to sort of hide yourself in some ways and suppress certain sides of yourself, and you know, sort of secretive internal nature of that of that kind of a character....  So that that i think is the thing that was, you know, The Root of it, was the most interesting

Superman's Guards

Superman | Sneak Peek

"So I go back into it, and I read it,
and when I'm all done he's like,
'Alight I think we got a movie here --
He's going, 'The problem though,
you're missing some beats
some action beats -- you need
an action beat every 10 pages
something big has to happen --"

I said 'What are you thinking about..?'

He's like 'Well, it's just an example,
like when you go you have
a scene where Brainiac goes
to The Fortress of Solitude
looking for Superman -- '

Superman's dead at this point --
(hope I didn't spoil the movie for anybody...)

"-- so Brainiac's looking for The Fortress of Solitude and something should happen there there should be a big [ __ ] fight

I'm like, '-- but Superman's Dead
at this point he's like, "I know, I know
but can't Brainiac fights something else up there?"

and I was like "Well, like what...?

He's like what about, like,
Superman's Guards, or Soldiers

And I'm like "....why --
Why would Superman need guards...?
You know he's --
He's Superman he's and --
plus, it's called "The Fortress
of Solitude" -- nobody's up there..."

And he said, "Well, Jesus Christ --
he's going how about -- what about,
where is it is, in The Antarctic?"

I said yeah
he's like, "What about polar bears
and I was like polar bears....?
he said "Yeah, have 'em....
have 'em fight some polar bears --
Brainiac shows up, he's trying
to get in the Fortress
polar bears come at him and
he just fuckin' kills one -- and
one runs away --

'Cuz we don't want
to piss off The PETA-People.

And I said, "You want me to write a scene where Brainiac is wrastling polar bears....?"

And he says, "Yeah, you know anything about polar bears...?" and I said, "....no I don't --" he's like "Polar bear's the fiercest killers in The Animal Kingdom --" [Applause]

-- and at this point I'm just like "This dude has way too much access to The Discovery Channel...."

It is Not Linear

"Dear Carl,

Thank you for sharing Tears of--

Tears of the Anaren with me.

As I read it, I found myself inspired

to type up a few suggestions for you.

I used red ink so they'd be easy to find.

Feel free to use or ignore them as you wish.

After all, it's your book!

Yours,

Isaac Asimov.

PS : I enjoyed your use of backstory."

[chuckles, breathing heavily]

["There's Only One" playing]

[rain pouring]

[song continues]

[thunder rumbles]

[song continues]

[thunder rumbling]

[song continues]

C.W. :

[exclaims]

[murmurs] Yes. That's it.

- Okay.

- That's you. This one's you.

- A.E. A.E.!

- The hell is this?

C.W. :

Ah. Good, you're all here. [sniffs

I know. I am late,

I am drunk, both inexcusable

But I have seen something.

It's so simple. Just a dot and

a line and another dot.

That's it. That's allFor now

But the inevitable march of Technology will not be stemmed.

Two dots become four, become eight,

become a million.  A billion.

Enough iridescent geometry

to create an entire world

No, no, no. Worlds

As countless as stars in the sky.

Mountains, rivers, volcanoes —

Child's play.

We will give birth to creatures

the likes of which have never been seen.

And with the merest of motions,

we will control them. No

We will become them.

Naturally, none of these wonders

will mean anything on their own

They will need to be infused with Story

Conflict, romance, sex, violence.

Everything that makes the great religions great

But these stories can't simply be... this

These paltry, linear narratives. No!

They will have to

live and breathe

with The World itself.

I have imagined a new

form of Storytelling

Not a line,  but a bolt of lightning,

coruscating and fractalising into a thousand paths.

Choices upon choices

A seamless melding

of The Author's will

and The Reader's desire.

I will create this new

kind of Storytelling

I will gift it to you here.

I have seen it.

I have glimpsed

through the veil of time!

[breathing heavily]

[chair squeaks]

What the fuck are you talking about?

- What?

- I didn't understand a g*dd*mn--

Did you understand any of that?

Either of you?

Carl, your passion is admirable,

but Worlds coming to Life on Television

None of the good stuff is on TV.

TV is... TV is shit. It's for morons

[rain pattering]

Hmm.

["Long Is the Night" playing]

[rain pattering]

[baby crying in distance]
