To Live and Die in L.A. - Opening (1985)
Bridge-Troll :
How did you happen to fall in?
Clarence, The Watchmaker,
Angel, Second-class :
I didn't fall in. I jumped in
to save George.
Will :
You what? To...
to Save me?
Clarence, The Watchmaker,
Angel, Second-class :
Well, I did, didn't I? You didn't
go through with it, did you?
Will :
Go through with what?
Clarence, The Watchmaker,
Angel, Second-class :
Suicide.
Bridge-Troll :
Well, it's against The Law to
commit suicide around here.
Clarence, The Watchmaker,
Angel, Second-class :
Yeah, it's against The Law
where I come from, too.
Bridge-Troll :”
Where do you come from?
Clarence, The Watchmaker,
Angel, Second-class :
Heaven! I had to act quickly.
That's why I jumped in. I knew
if I were drowning you'd
try to save me.
And you see, you did, and
that's how I saved you.
At one point Ruth
looks out the window
of her house towards
a distant bridge.
She turns to Chance and says,
"If you had any guts, you'd
jump off THAT bridge."
The bridge that agent Chance bungee-jumps from
in the opening act is the
Vincent Thomas Bridge.
This is the same bridge
that director Tony Scott
committed suicide by
jumping from in 2012.
