"Ay-oh!" - Freddie Mercury

1 - Realize that "speaking in tongues" was promised by Jesus and was to accompany belief: And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name ...; they will speak in new tongues; Mark 16:17 (Jesus).

2 - Realize that it is the Holy Spirit which gives the words which you speak and not you yourself: And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:4

3 - Understand that when you speak in tongues you are talking to God: -- even though occasionally it may be understood by someone as a human language as it was at Pentecost. Its principle purpose is for talking to God.

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. (1 Corinthians 14:2)

4
Use speaking in tongues to edify yourself or build yourself up spiritually. This is not a selfish thing, but rather the purpose is that when you are built up in the your spirit then you can build up or encourage others. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 1 Corinthians 14:4
5
Don't expect to understand what you are saying. You have control over the volume and the speed at which you speak but not the content, for example as prayer language: For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 1 Corinthians14:14
6
When in private, use "speaking in tongues" as much as you can. Paul appreciated the benefit of speaking in tongues; that's why he said, "I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:" 1 Corinthians 14:18
7
When in public it is much better to speak in the language of the region in order to benefit those you are speaking to. Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. 1 Corinthians 14:19
8
Understand that when you pray in tongues you give thanks well: and that you bless with the Spirit, but again it is meant for private use -- as it does not help others who can't understand what you're saying 1 Corinthians 14:16-17
9
Be assured that when you speak in tongues you're not saying anything bad about God or our Lord Jesus Christ: Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 12:3
"For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent." Zephaniah 3:9
10
Understand that speaking in tongues is defined as praying in the Spirit:, and that we should pray both in the Spirit (tongues) and in the understanding (your natural language). 1 Corinthians 14:14-15
11
Pray in the Spirit (tongues) to build yourself up in your faith. Jude 20
12
Understand that praying in the Spirit is part of the armour of God: and we are told to put on the whole armour of God Ephesians 6:10, Ephesians 6:18

Surrey Police (Freemasonry)

A blunder by Sussex Police has revealed that they spied on anti-fracking protesters at Balcombe, and shared the information with oil exploration company Cuadrilla. The tactics, including the use of "covert means", were meant to be kept secret - but sections of a public document the force had tried to black out turned out to be legible online. The Brighton MP Caroline Lucas has criticised the police -- accusing them of trying to criminalise peaceful protest. Mark Sanders reports

Rates of HIV antibody positivity in different population cohorts - Spot the deliberate mistake.

Assuming for a moment the existence of HIV (and the jury is very much still out on that one), what you are doing is comparing the blood of healthy people with that of sick people.

The VAST majority of people infected with HIV are not chronically infected - they are not ill and will not get ill for many years, if ever.

People who ARE ill, whose immune system is being placed under pressure and working overtime to take care of any opportunistic infections (which may or may not include HIV) will have blood that is teeming with antibodies of many different configurations and combinations.

It is proven for an absolute fact that not only are the antibodies used as a search criteria on "an HIV Test", such as ELISA or Western Blot non-specific to HIV (the most common overlap in Africa appears to be with Tuberculosis, for example, which is endemic on that continent), there is no universal Gold Standard criteria for the specific antibody combinations said to indicate the presence of a non-chronic HIV infection - and as per the model, someone who IS already chronically infected will be absolutely overwhelmed with opportunistic infections as their immune response begins to totally collapse - at which point, theoretically, they would begin to test HIV-negative again, presumably.

So, yes - HIV Positivity correlates extremely well with people who are getting sick with AIDS; because people who are getting sick with AIDS (or beginning to) are the only people whose immunological response you are looking at for antibody imbalances.

You say "HIV is closely associated with AIDS" and then closely associate it with AIDS via the Disease of Language.

You have now successfully altered reality by means of emphatic factual statements.

And this is now "True".

THE COVERT WAR AGAINST ROCK

-- by Alex Constatine

"Hutchence was a political activist. His will designated Amnesty International and Greenpeace as the benefactors of the lion's share of  his assets. And like many popular musicians on the left, the authorities harassed and set him up for a fall.

In a July 1998 interview that appeared in a fan newsletter, Colin Diamond, Hutchence's attorney and former executor of his estate, was asked about the vocalist's September 1996 opium bust and his defense that the narcotic was  planted by police. [Nope.]

"Perhaps you should try and figure it out for yourself!" Diamond snapped.

"Michael and Paula were out of the country and during that time only a few people had any real access to the place: Bob Geldof, Anita Debney, the nanny who used to work for Bob for twelve or so years, and a woman called Gerry Agar, who had developed a grudge against both Paula and Michael.

The police were called days after the nanny claimed she'd found two Smarty packets with opium in them.

Geldof immediately had a new custody application before the courts, 'in light of recent events.' The local police and prosecutors had the media on their case.

There was enormous pressure on them, but even they had to admit something was a bit fishy.

[The court] dropped all charges, remember, and Michael was issued with a certificate of non-prosecution by the Crown."

When asked if Hutchence "got off" fairly, Diamond snapped again: "Got off, GOT OFF?? I think the question should be who tried to get him on. You figure it out!"

Willie Brown

For Mayor Willie Brown, the first signs that something was amiss came late Monday when he got a call from what he described as his airport security - - a full eight hours before yesterday's string of terrorist attacks -- advising him that Americans should be cautious about their air travel.

The mayor, who was booked to fly to New York yesterday morning from San Francisco International Airport, said the call "didn't come in any alarming fashion, which is why I'm hesitant to make an alarming statement."

In fact, at the time, he didn't pay it much mind.

"It was not an abnormal call. I'm always concerned if my flight is going to be on time, and they always alert me when I ought to be careful."

Exactly where the call came from is a bit of a mystery. The mayor would say only that it came from "my security people at the airport."

Mike McCarron, assistant deputy director at SFO, said the Federal Aviation Administration "routinely" issues security notices about possible threats. He said two or three such notices have been received in the past couple of months, but none in recent days.

Whatever the case, Brown didn't think about it again until he was up, dressed and waiting for his ride to the airport for an 8 a.m. flight to New York, where he was to attend a state retirement board meeting. That was when he turned on the TV, and like millions of other Americans, saw the twin towers of the World Trade Center crumble and the Pentagon go up in smoke.

Before the mayor was even out the door, District Attorney Terence Hallinan - - the man Brown said just last week should be recalled -- was checking in and offering help.

What followed was a conversation made up of equal parts gravity and formality.

"You know, you're the first call I've gotten on this," Brown said to Hallinan, as they were signing off.

With that, the mayor hung up and headed for City Hall. Along the way, he made the call to close all city buildings for the day and city schools as well.

He also talked with representatives of the Bank of America building and the Transamerica Pyramid, who agreed that because the structures were such high- profile symbols they too should be closed for the day.

Once Brown arrived at City Hall, calls were made in quick order to Municipal Railway director Michael Burns: "I want a complete backup in case anything happens to the subway tunnels," Brown said.

The Coast Guard: "To make sure the bridges were being protected."

And to the health, police and fire departments to make sure they were staffed for the emergency.

The last call went to Tom Ammiano, the mayor's longtime political nemesis and president of the Board of Supervisors.

"We may have to declare a state of emergency, although it's not something I want to do at this point because it kicks in all sorts of things -- but we may have to be ready," the mayor said.

Ammiano apparently agreed, because an hour or so later -- when the two sat next to each other at a city department heads meeting at the command center -- the call was made for only a "limited" state of emergency. One that would allow the courts, city offices and schools to close, but still keep the city pretty much in working order.

"What I want," the mayor said, "is for things to be to run as normally as possible, but sagely."

And for the most part they did. As for what comes next?

"With any luck, we'll be back to normal by tomorrow -- but with a heightened sense of awareness," Brown said as he sipped coffee with reporters at Citizen Cake on Grove Street.

But as for long-term safety?

"We can only do what we can," the mayor said, adding, "Hell, if they can't protect the Pentagon from attack, what can they protect?"

BART BLOCKS: Don't go looking for a rest room on BART -- they're all locked.

According to BART information officer Ron Rodriguez, a memorandum went out yesterday ordering all station rest rooms to be locked until further notice. They've also put out the word to watch for suspicious packages.

THE OTHER BROWN: Over in Oakland, Mayor Jerry Brown was trying his best to keep things normal as well.

"We're carrying on," Brown said. "I think the most important thing is for people to stay calm and understand that the power of terrorism is psychological.

"The goal is to sow disunity and to undermine our faith in the leadership of the country."

A few blocks away, Democratic pollster Paul Maslin sat in his office high- rise and wondered about the long-term effect of the attacks.

"It's like one part Pearl Harbor, one part Northern Ireland and one part I don't know what," was how Maslin summed it up.

Maslin -- who does polling for Gov. Gray Davis, among others -- said the strangest call he got yesterday was from one of the biggest Democratic consultants in Washington, D.C., who had just bolted his apartment.

"This was a grown man in his 50s, and he was scared out of his wits because he'd heard that a second plane was headed for the Pentagon," Maslin said.

"We can't even begin to gauge the long-term effects of this yet, but I will say, I don't think we'll ever be the same."

George Shultz

EARLY WARNING / State Department memo warned of terrorist threat

Published 4:00 am, Friday, September 14, 2001

Former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz said yesterday that he was "startled" by a little-noticed State Department memo that was issued a week ago and warned that Americans "may be the target of a terrorist threat."

The memo, issued just four days before the attacks on New York and Washington, identified the threat as coming from "extremist groups with links to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organization."

"I have not idea what intelligence lies behind the warning," Shultz said, "but they put this out because they had some sort of intelligence."

Shultz, who served as secretary of state under President Reagan, said he received a copy of the Sept. 7 "worldwide warning" in his San Francisco office on the day before the fatal attacks. The memo addressed concerns for Americans overseas and made no mention of any possible attack on U.S. soil.

"Of course, today is a different world, and I think a lot of things are going to change."

Reached last night, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein said this was the first she had heard anything about the State Department warnings.

"Everyone should have been (alerted), but then you would have to ask whether they would have known what to look out for," Feinstein said.

"Of course," Feinstein said, "today is a different world, and I think a lot of things are going to change.

"Bin Laden's people had made statements three weeks ago carried in the Arab press in Great Britain that they were preparing to carry out unprecedented attacks in the U.S.," she said. "Whether that was the derivation of this (State Department ) bulletin, I don't know."

The warning dealt primarily with military bases in Japan and Korea.

But as Shultz pointed out, the mere fact that a warning was issued indicates that "something was cooking."

And indeed, in the one-page alert, the State Department said it had received information in May 2001 "that American citizens may be the target of a terrorist threat from extremist groups with links to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organization."

"Such individuals have not distinguished between official and civilian targets," the report said, adding, "As always, we take this information seriously. U.S. Government facilities worldwide remain on heightened alert."

"They had some sort of rumbling of something," Shultz said, "even if they didn't pinpoint it in the right direction."

U.S. State Department representative Julie Reside in Washington downplayed the significance of the bulletin yesterday, saying it was only the latest in a series of "periodically" issued public warnings by the department.

Reside said warnings are available to media organizations and on the state department's Web page.

"If it was based on intelligence, we cannot, of course, provide any details, " Reside said.

It's not the first time this year that the bin Laden organization was mentioned in a "worldwide caution." The first warning came in May, and was later updated on Sept. 7 to include the threats to U.S. military personnel in Asia.

Officials at San Francisco International Airport said they weren't aware of the State Department warning - but someone in the airport security section knew of it and passed word of the warning onto Mayor Willie Brown when he called to check on the status of flight he was planning to take to New York.

"I didn't give it much thought at the time," Brown said. "It wasn't until after the attacks that I even remembered the call."

Whether U.S. military installations around the world were aware of the memo and took extra precautions is a bit unclear. Department of Defense spokesman Glenn Flood said his agency would have received a copy of the bulletin. But, he added, "There was no order from the Pentagon for every base to go on heightened alert, because that's up to the commands in each theater, and some are on alert anyway."

State Department spokesman Richard Boucher made mention of the bulletin at a routine -- and sparsely attended -- media briefing last Friday. He explained that the department was revising a June 22 notice to include warnings about threats to the military in Japan and Korea and "to ensure that the general American public is aware of this potential danger to their safety."

Boucher declined to say whether the threat in Asia was directly linked to bin Laden.

Operation Lock

“Anything approaching the change that came over his features I have never seen before, and hope never to see again. Oh, I wasn't touched. I was fascinated. It was as though a veil had been rent. I saw on that ivory face the expression of sombre pride, of ruthless power, of craven terror--of an intense and hopeless despair. Did he live his life again in every detail of desire, temptation, and surrender during that supreme moment of complete knowledge? He cried in a whisper at some image, at some vision--he cried out twice, a cry that was no more than a breath:

"The horror! The horror!”

― Joseph Conrad,
Heart of Darkness

"I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror... Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies! I remember when I was with Special Forces... seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate some children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there, and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried, I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out; I didn't know what I wanted to do! And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it... I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought, my God... the genius of that! The genius! The will to do that! Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we, because they could stand that these were not monsters, these were men... trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love... but they had the strength... the strength... to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men, our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral... and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling... without passion... without judgment... without judgment! Because it's judgment that defeats us. "

WWF's 'Operation Lock'

In 1988, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, a co-founder of the WWF with Prince Philip, established a special hit squad within the WWF under the name of "Operation Lock," officially charged with stopping the poaching of elephants and rhinos in South Africa's national parks. Operation Lock hired Kilo Alpha Services (KAS), the private security firm led by Lt. Col. Ian Crooke. Crooke was a commander of the 23rd SAS Regiment, a part-time unit composed of reserve officers and soldiers frequently employed in SAS private security firms. His brother Alastair, the British vice consul in Pakistan, helped oversee the arming of the Afghan mujahideen.

Operation Lock is the secret behind the fratricidal warfare in South Africa between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Inkatha, which killed 10,000 people between 1990-95. KAS supervised the commando training of Zulu followers of Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi's Inkatha, who were employed as game wardens and guards in several South African national parks. It also undertook the training of opposing Xhosa tribal followers of Nelson Mandela's ANC, in different parks. Beginning in 1989, these commando teams began what has since been referred to as "third force" killings: the slaughter of ANC and the rival Zulu cadre in such a way as to implicate each other.

In August 1991, Zimbabwean Minister for National Security Sydney Sekerayami accused KAS of "being a cover for the destabilization of southern Africa." In 1993, his government's investigations determined that the 1992 Boipatong anti-Zulu massacre was carried out by the "Crowbar squad," a Namibian anti-poaching unit created and trained by KAS.
