Malcolm X used to open meetings by asking his audience : "Hands in the air, how many of you want to be free?"
99% of the room raised their hands.
"Now, how many of you would be prepared to die in order to be free?"
20-25% raise their hands; Malcolm
divided up the room, took the smaller cadre off to one side and explained to them :
"Now - our biggest obstacle to getting free, from now on - is going to be *those* guys, over there...."
