Chairman of the Board of MK-Ultra

"Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire..?"

“That’s the only way that film ever got made... It took Frank going directly to Jack Kennedy.”

 Richard Condon,
Author of The Manchurian Candidate

I quote The Enemy: "Suddenly is a 1954 American film noir thriller directed by Lewis Allen with a screenplay written by Richard Sale. The drama features Frank Sinatra, Sterling Hayden, James Gleason and Nancy Gates, among others.

The tranquility of a small town is jarred when the U.S. President is scheduled to pass through and a hired assassin takes over the Benson home as a perfect location to ambush the president.

In 1959, five years after the release of Suddenly, a novel was published which had a remarkably similar ending. This was The Manchurian Candidate written by Richard Condon, a former Hollywood press agent recently turned novelist. His book also features a mentally troubled former war hero who, at the climax, uses a rifle with scope to shoot at a presidential candidate.

The Manchurian Candidate was released as a film in 1962, again starring Sinatra, but this time out to prevent an assassination being committed by Laurence Harvey."

" Frank was on Stage 22 of the Warner Bros. lot making Robin and the 7 Hoods when he got the news of John F. Kennedy’s assassination. For the first time in a long time, he went to church to pray.

Years later, when he learned that Lee Harvey Oswald had watched Suddenly a few days before shooting the President, he withdrew the 1954 movie in which he played a deranged assassin paid to kill the president.

He also forbade the re-release of The Manchurian Candidate, his 1962 movie dealing with a killer who is brainwashed to gun down a politician.

That November evening, Frank called the White House. He expressed his sympathy to Patricia Lawford, but did not talk with her husband, Peter.

“Frank was pretty broken up when he talked to Pat and would have given anything to come back to Washington for Jack’s funeral, but it just wasn’t possible to invite him,” said Lawford. “He’d already been too’ much of an embarrassment to the family.”

When Frank returned to work a few days later, he was dismayed by the comments he heard among the cast and crew. Over the loudspeaker system he said, “I have heard some unfortunate remarks on this set about Texas. This indicates that we are still not unified, despite the terrible happenings of the past week. I beg of you not to generalize about people, or make jokes about anyone from Texas. Or say anything that will keep us divided by malice or hatred. Now is the time for all of us to work together with understanding and temperance—and not do or say anything that will prevent that".

A few weeks later, Frank turned to Peter Lawford for help when Frank’s nineteen-year-old son was kidnapped at gunpoint on December 8, 1963.... "

"...He then told the President about his interest in making The Manchurian Candidate, a psychological thriller based on a novel by Richard Condon about two American soldiers who are captured by the Communists during the Korean War and brainwashed. One of the soldiers (Laurence Harvey) is programmed to assassinate a presidential candidate so that the Communist-backed candidate will become president. The other soldier, to be played by Frank, is deprogrammed by a psychiatrist and then works with the FBI to investigate Harvey. Frank had been approached with the property by George Axelrod and John Frankenheimer and wanted to make the film. It would be distributed by United Artists as part of the fifteen-million-dollar contract Frank had with the company. The problem was that Arthur Krim, president of United Artists, refused to distribute the movie. He was national finance chairman of the Democratic Party at the time and, as such, very protective of the Kennedys. He felt that the film was too politically explosive. Frank disagreed and took the matter directly to President Kennedy, who said that he had no objection whatsoever to seeing the film made. In fact, he enjoyed Condon’s novel and thought it would make a great movie. So Frank asked him to call Krim, and he agreed to do so.
“That’s the only way that film ever got made,” said Richard Condon. “It took Frank going directly to Jack Kennedy.”

Natalie Wood

... confided her secret to her TV brother, who recalls, Natalie herself could not even believe this permission, jumping at the chance to do something without her mother. She shared the confidence with Mary Ann, who was astonished even Maria would send Natalie alone, at fifteen, to a party at Frank Sinatras house. She literally threw her to the lions.

The  day  after the  party,  Natalie  arrived  at the  Studio School embarrassed, telling Bobby she had something to confess.

Natalie had consumed quantities of wine at Sinatra's house, and in the course of the evening, told Sinatra about Clyde, the code name for penis Bobby had coined to fool Natalie's mother. Sinatra was so amused, he and his friends had incorporated Clyde into their hipster slang.

Natalie felt guilty because she had taken credit for the word. "Heres the kind of person Natalie was. She said that my friendship was very important to her. She was going to see Sinatra that evening, and if I wanted, she would tell Sinatra that I invented the word." Bobby laughed it off.

Some months later, he turned on the radio and heard Sinatra singing a tune called Clyde's Song. The singer was quoted in magazines saying Clyde was his code word for someone he didn't like. "Sinatra and his Rat Pack gang started using the 'Clyde' word in their Vegas act. Even JFK was saying the code word. I should have copyrighted it."

Natalie became a regular at Sinatras that May and June according to Hyatt, who saw her at studio school every day, keeping her secret. "I remember one Friday Natalie just couldn't wait to get out of there. She kept looking at her watch, dancing up and down, saying, 'I have to get to the hairdresser and look really beautiful tonight because - don't tell anybody - I'm going back to Frank Sinatras house. They're having a party and I can't wait to get up there.' It was a big deal to her.

Everybody was up there - Dean Martin, the Rat Pack, all the big stars, all way older than her. She was probably the only person under thirty there except for maybe some of the dancing girls from Las Vegas. I guarantee you she was the only fifteen-year-old there."

There was a mysterious, illicit quality to Natalies relationship with Sinatra, from the point of view of Bobby, her brother-confessor.

On October 29, 1953, MGM announced that the marriage was over: “Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra stated today that having reluctantly exhausted every effort to reconcile their differences, they could find no mutual basis on which to continue their marriage. Both expressed deep regret and great respect for each other. Their separation is final and Miss Gardner will seek a divorce.” That night, a New York disc jockey played a Sinatra record, which he introduced as “Ava Gardner’s newest release.”

Ava announced that she was leaving for Rome to make The Barefoot Contessa with Humphrey Bogart. She said she was in no hurry to file for divorce but nonchalantly dismissed the possibility of a reconciliation. She invented and reinvented her marriage for reporters and ranged from sexually ridiculing Frank as “Mr. Sin-Nada” (nothing) to proclaiming him “the man I’ll always love.”

Frank was devastated and made no pretense about it. When reporters asked him about the break-up, he said, “I guess it’s over if that’s what she says. It’s very sad … it’s tragic. I feel very badly about it.”

One friend suggested that he call Ava, and said she was as miserable as Frank was. “Then why is she going to Rome to make a picture?” Frank asked. “How are we going to make up if she’s going to be so far away?” He never made the call.

A few nights later, the newspapers reported that Ava was seen dining quietly with Peter Lawford at Frascati’s in Los Angeles. Knowing that Peter and Ava had dated years before, Frank flew into a rage and called Lawford, threatening him.

“Oh, God, he was furious with me for going out with Ava,” said Peter Lawford many years later. “He screamed, ‘Do you want your legs broken, you fucking asshole? Well, you’re going to get them broken if I ever hear you’re out with Ava again. So help me, I’ll kill you. Do you hear me?’ Then he slammed the phone down. I was panicked. I mean I was really scared. Frank’s a violent guy and he’s good friends with too many guys who’d rather kill you than say hello. I didn’t want to die, so I called Jimmy Van Heusen and said, ‘Please tell him nothing happened. Please.’ Jimmy said not to worry. That Frank would get over it. He knew we’d been friends since 1945. Well, Frank got over it all right, but it took him six years!”

Out of his mind with grief over Ava, Frank flew to New York en route to a nightclub engagement at the Chase Hotel in St. Louis. He wandered around Manhattan like one of the damned, filled with remorse and self-pity, unable to focus on anything but his terrible personal loss. He began frightening friends by telephoning in a gloomy voice, “Please see that the children are taken care of,” and hanging up.

On November 18, 1953, Jimmy Van Heusen, who had an apartment on Fifty-seventh Street, found Frank on the floor of the elevator with his wrists slashed. Van Heusen immediately called a doctor and rushed Frank to Mt. Sinai Hospital, but not before paying the man at the front desk of his building fifty dollars to keep quiet about the incident.

The people in charge of Frank’s booking at the Chase Hotel had no idea of what had happened, but they grew more concerned by the minute when he failed to show up for rehearsal.

“We were frantic,” said the booking agent, “and we started calling all over. We called the Sands in Las Vegas; we called his home in Los Angeles; we called Palm Springs and New York, but no one could find him. Finally someone decided to call Morris Schenker, a lawyer in St. Louis who has ties to everyone, to see whether he could find out something. He called us back minutes later and said Frank would not be coming because he’d just slashed his wrists.”

Frank’s closest friend, songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen, had lived through the traumas of the Ava Gardner courtship and the tumultuous marriage. Affable and easygoing, he had never crossed Frank, no matter how deplorable Frank’s behavior. He had harbored him in Palm Springs every time Frank stormed out of the house after a fight with Ava, and had spent those nights helping Frank drink his misery away.

When Van Heusen’s apartment in New York had been the scene of one of the worst rows between Ava and Frank, with both of them cursing and screaming and breaking furniture, Jimmy had laughed it off. But having recently suffered what he thought was a heart attack, Van Heusen was now trying to protect his health. The sight of his bloodied friend was more than he could take. So he finally stood up to Sinatra and told him he would end their friendship forever unless Frank promised to seek psychiatric care

Here's the big news in conservation, energy and sustainable development : Cold Fusion works.

And the Americans are REFUSING to develop it, because it will destroy the oil, coal and nuclear industry.

If the so-called Green Party actually care about these things (and its not just posturing), why aren't they demanding an immediate crash program to develop Cold Fusion energy sources and High Energy Physics...?

9/11, Star Wars and The Memes of Public Myth

"During his interview with Bill Moyers in 1986, Dr. Joseph Campbell warned that we had entered a period of history in which the millennium-old myths/ religions no longer functioned: Myth has to give life models and the models have to be appropriate to the possibilities of the time in which you are living. And our time has changed and changed and changed – and continues to change so fast that what was proper 50 years ago is not proper today. The virtues of the past are the vices of today and many of what were thought to be the vices of the past are the necessities of today. The moral order has to catch up with the moral necessities of actual life in time – here and now – and that’s what it is not doing. … And that’s why it’s ridiculous to go back to the old-time religion. … [W]hen you go back to the old-time religion it belongs to another age, another people, another set of human values, another universe. The world changes – then the religion has to be transformed.

When asked by Bill Moyers: “So what happens when a society no longer embraces powerful mythology?”

Dr. Campbell replied: What we’ve got on our hands … if you want to find what it means to have a society without any rituals read the New York Times … [where you’ll find] the news of the day – young people who don't know how to behave in a civilized society. … I imagine 50% of the crime is by young people in their 20's and early 30's that just behave like barbarians.

The analogy Dr. Campbell drew between myths and computer software provides a way forward: I’ve had a revelation from my computer about mythology. You buy a certain software with a whole set of signals that lead to the achievement of your aim. Once you’ve set it – if you begin fooling around with signals that belong to another system they just won't work. You have a system there – a code – a determined code that requires you to use certain terms. Now, similarly in mythology – each religion is a kind of software that has its own set of signals and will work. If a person is really involved in a religion and really building his life on it, he had better stay with the software that he's got. The [future] myth has to incorporate the machine just as the old myths incorporated the tools that people used – the forms of the tools are associated with power systems that are involved in the culture. We have not a mythology that incorporates these – the new powers are being surprisingly announced to us by what the machines can do. We can't have a mythology for a long, long time to come, because things are changing too fast. The environment in which we are living is changing too fast for it to become mythologized. The individual has to find the aspect of myth that has to do with the conduct of his own life.

Dr. Campbell cautioned: You can’t predict what a myth is going to be any more than you can predict what you’re going to dream tonight. Myths and dreams come from the same place. They come from realizations of some kind that have then to find expression in symbolic form. Every mythology, every religion is true in this sense: it is true as metaphorical of the human and cosmic mystery. But when it gets stuck to the metaphor – then you're in trouble. … The real horror today is what you see in [Jerusalem] – where you have the three great Western religions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam – and because the three of them have three different names for the same biblical God they can't get on together – they're stuck with their metaphor and don't realize its reference. Each needs its own myth … love thy enemy – open up. Don't judge.

Later in the interview, Dr. Campbell advised: The only myth that’s going to be worth thinking about in the immediate future is one that’s talking about the planet: not this city, not these people, but the planet and everybody on it. That’s my main thought for what the future myth is going to be. And what it will have to deal with will be exactly what all myths have dealt with:

1) the maturation of the individual, the gradual, pedagogical way to follow from dependency through adulthood to maturity, and then to the exit, and how to do it;

2) And then how to relate to this society and how to relate this society to the world of nature and the cosmos. That’s what the myths have all talked about. That’s what this one’s got to talk about. But the society that it’s got to talk about is the society of the planet. And until that gets going you don’t have anything.

And therein lies the problem: we still don’t have anything."

"Israel" is not a good name - his name was Jacob at first...
"Israel" means "Strives [wrestles] with [a] god"
Now you have to deal with what that name means....

The caduceus is one of the most ancient of symbols. You might best know this symbol as the DNA structure and healing used by the medical profession. Since ancient Mesopotamia the caduceus presented two serpents intertwined (the central nervous system) around a staff (the spinal column) with the wings (the "swan") on either side (the two hemispheres of the brain, with the circle in the center representing the pineal gland, or the central sun and psychic center within). It also symbolized the kundalini energy.

This was originally the symbol for the Anunnaki-Sirian creator god, EA, or EN.KI (who has become an Archetype), was the chief of the magicians, "the one who knows," and infamous for being the serpent of the Garden of Eden who created lifeforms in test tubes half a million years ago with his half-sister Ninharsag, at the suggestion of his son, Marduk, to create humans to be the workers for the gods. (The symbol is also based upon the winged globe for the planet Nibiru, the symbol of the royal Anunnaki family.)

Biblical writers called the healing serpent Nehushtan. The Hebrew word for serpent is "nahash." The root of the word are the Hebrew letters Nun, Het and Shin, which means "to guess." This was translated into other languages as "satan," which some say mean "enemy," or "adversary."

Enki’s identity, as Lord of Earth or In Earth (EN.KI), also known as EA ("whose house is water") is reflected in other names, as well:
  • Adonai
  • Ptah
  • Aton
  • Aten
  • Adom
  • Adam
  • Amen
(Linguistic paleontology is a marvelous and vast area for proving these connections.)

The name EARTH also comes from EA/Enki. Actually, the name "earth" can be traced to Enki (a.k.a. EA), and "human" is related to Ninharsag/Ninhursag, who was Hathor (the House of Horus): HU (Horus) is also a transliteration of the ancient Sumerian EA (Grimms’ law of interchangeable letters and sounds). If we use Hebrew, HU means "she."

India, the "nagas" were the serpent gods and goddesses. In the Americas there was Quetzlcoatl (or Thoth). The entire world has worshipped the serpent for its wisdom, but ironically, it was not really about snakes at all - unless you feel you have to "guess" what a snake is up to! Why was the snake chosen? For its cleverness, ability to survive in the harshest of environments, and again, its shape resembling the flow of energy up the spine - to the crown chakra, and the third eye. The snake sheds its skin and is reborn. The snake is clever. And perhaps because it naturally instilled a bit of caution or awe in people. Was Enki really a snake? Not literally. He has many different appearances.

The serpent always represents spiritual wisdom, life and healing. The first symbols of serpents were attributed to Enki and then Ninhursag. However, the story of the serpent becoming an evil symbol began with the wars between Enki and his brother, Enlil (later known by the name "Allah"). These conflicts began at birth and had to do with birthright to the royal throne of the Nibiruan civilization in which their father, Anu, was the leader and father to Enki and Enlil. There was a time when Anu felt Enki (due to his wisdom and magical abilities) was the only savior of the Anunnaki people ("Enuma Elish").

This story later was reflected in Cain and Abel, and all the stories throughout your times of brothers competing for power, favoritism and inheritance. Enlil’s anger with Enki caused him to twist the truth around to make the serpent evil, which later became what you know as the story in the Bible. What you think of as being Satan is not that at all, but THE REVERSE!

Although there was love between Enki and Enlil, they often did not see eye to eye on many issues, especially when it came to supporting human beings. Enlil never had patience or compassion for people, and on several occasions, Sodom and Gomorrah as one example, he literally nuked them out of existence. He attempted this again during the time of the Great Flood but Enki (and those who supported him) took swift action to alert the Noahs around the planet of the forthcoming dangers. Some of the Anunnaki outraged with Enki for doing so but saw they had little choice in finally carrying out the rescue. Anu supported saving humanity.

In the Garden of Eden situation, Enlil was furious that Enki permitted humans to have access to knowledge, the mixing of the Anunnaki with human genes, thereby becoming more "godly," and equal to the Anunnaki. To strike back at Enki, and in the attempt to regain his power over humans, Enlil vowed to tarnish Enki’s reputation by spreading the idea that the serpent of wisdom was evil. Enlil tried to wipe out knowledge of the DNA coding Enki gave humans, and of what the Anunnaki used in order to have longevity (gold).

However, Enlil was not completely successful because most of Enki’s plan had worked. For centuries afterwards, humans attempted to duplicate the concoction of gold the gods used to maintain their youth and health, and those with the knowledge were able to manufacture substitutes for a while. But, much also had to do with the DNA content of the individual.

The more pure Anunnaki DNA, the better chance one had of having longevity, etc. Then, combine the DNA with spiritual awakening to the body, blood, and spirit with nutritional supplements, and each human will know who they are - gardeners, and caretakers of the Earth, not owners. Humans are here to maintain beauty, harmony and balance that was first given to us after the Earth was created. We are not to be interested only in ourselves.

Why did Adam eat from the Tree of Knowledge and not from the Tree of Life? Without getting into complex detail, Enki told me simply:
"With the Tree of Knowledge humans had the chance to figure out everything on their own in time, to be equal to the Anunnaki. Had they eaten only from the Tree of Life, they would live but not have been more the wiser."
The Garden of Eden, by the way, was a literal place, but also a genetic metaphor.

Enki knew had Adam (Adapa) eaten from the other tree, it would not ensure wisdom or spiritual evolution. Instead, it would more likely result in primitive human living for eons without evolution. The story of this translated from the ancient Babylonian texts is very interesting with Adapa’s confusion over whom to believe, which to eat. It resulted in him eating "the wrong" thing, but actually it was the right thing, in terms of DNA, which would eventually bring our spirituality back from whence it faltered, and remind people to tend to the Earth, which was not created by extraterrestrials, but by God.

The battle between the brothers continued into the time of the pyramid wars and Exodus. The staff with the caduceus was also one of Moses’ tools. The serpent, for the Hebrews represented salvation and wisdom. Moses’s copper serpent staff, often utilized by his brother, Aaron, was made famous for performing miracles. Another connection between the staff and the serpents occurred during the Exodus when the staff was seen to transform into snakes. Aaron was high priest and had been trained in magic.

He and Moses received instructions from a collective of that main Anunnaki family (who taught Moses the alphabet). Isn’t it interesting that during the Exodus, the name Jehovah, YHWH, took over and the name Adonai began to disappear? This was at the time when Enki departed the Earth and Marduk became the leader of Enki’s family. Enlil’s family was given the Sinai (taken away from Ninharsag) and Enlil’s son, Sin, was its new ruler. His symbol is the crescent moon (which became the symbol for Islam).

Luckily, the heritage of the caduceus lived on. In some versions the staff is capped with a solar disk or even a crescent moon. Nisaba, one of Enki’s daughters, also held a similar staff topped with an "ankh." For some, the staff symbolized Hermes/Mercury. Throughout time different civilizations in India, the Americas, Greece, Egypt, including the great mystery schools and secret societies have renamed and used it. In Christianity the archangel Michael was associated with this staff. The sirens became the staff for two serpents they held in their hands. This staff was considered to be so powerful it was able to raise up the dead.

The symbol of the caduceus was later transferred to one of Enki’s counterparts, Ningishzida (Thoth), the healing god, and then to others of his family because it was a code for the bloodline of Enki’s heritage. From this symbol of the serpent the power was transferred to the symbol of the dragon, who continued to hold the knowledge. The dragon could "divine." This is one reason why we say we and you are of "divine" heritage. You will see a version of the caduceus as the winged solar disk in Ancient Egypt, which incorporated the knowledge of one’s divinity and eternal soul, in the third eye chakra, along with the traditional knowledge of what it stood for.

Therefore, you will see this symbol above arches and entrances into temples and royal structures to remind those who enter who they really are. And this means not only the DNA connection to the Anunnaki, but the divine soul-being as coming from the Source, itself. The symbol of the winged Isis represents the original female mother goddess, Ninharsag, and blood connection in birthing humans who mated with "the gods," those who fly as a free spirit.

When you see the caduceus, know you are triggering your own genetic memory and seeing your heritage. Each one of you holds within you the DNA, in varying degrees, the wisdom from the Anunnaki and the Source. Since Enki and Ninhursag, there have been other off-planet beings who added in their own DNA to the human species.

So, you are all a mixture - and all one family from the One God. Within you is the consciousness with which you can liberate yourselves through SELF-knowledge and return to the garden.

The Phoney Litvinenko Inquiry

Hollywood Acredits the Memes : Tarpley, 2008 - Future Faces of Terror

Korean, Chinese, Leftist-Radical Student - Russian NUCLEAR Terrorism; that's all you have to hear.

Litvinenko never worked for the KGB, he wasn't a spy, he didn't expose shit, and Litvinenko himself told BBC Russia he had been killed by NATO Spook Mario Scaramella (who was going around claiming Romano Prodi  (Putin's Eurozone/NATO ally) was a KGB sleeper).

His eyebrows and bodyhair did not fall out.

Litvineko's co-author on The Dog that Did Not Bark - CIA Non-Interest in the 1999 Russian Apartment Bombings (blamed on FSB) :

Or...... CIA (or NATO Intelligence) did it and they don't want to bring it up with the Russians for that very reason.

Wayne Madsen : "December 15-17, 2006 –

Mario Scaramella, the Italian liaison for polonium-210 poisoned ex-Russian KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko, is connected to an array of companies, smuggling operations, and right-wing politicians, according to press reports in Italy. Scaramella ran an organization called the Environmental Crime Prevention Program (ECCP) from his base in Naples in the Campania Region. He is politically-connected to Campania officials, his uncle having once served as the President of Campania.

He has also been linked to activities of the powerful Camorra criminal syndicate in Naples.

In 2004, Scaramella’s ECCP established a presence in the tiny Republic of San Marino, known for its tight banking secrecy laws. The ECCP proclaims itself as “permanent intergovernmental conference” with rotating presidencies by such countries as Samoa and Angola. Scaramella concocted a story that “KGB agents” were active in San Marino, but it now appears that he sabotaged an international law enforcement investigation of Russian-Israeli weapons nuclear smugglers that were using San Marino as a base. That weapons smuggling operation involved other Russian-Israeli Mafia agents and operatives in Zurich. Fugitive American-Russian-Israeli Mafia capo Marc Rich (former major client of Vice President Dick Cheney’s indicted former Chief of Staff Lewis “Scooter” Libby) maintains his headquarters near Zurich.

In May 2002, he attended a top secret conclave of Italian intelligence officials in the town of Priverno, south of Rome. Scaramella attended under the affiliation of “Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Program for Environmental Security.” Also in attendance was Franco Frattini, Security and Intelligence Minister in the Silvio Berlusconi government; Mario Mori, chief of SISDE (the civilian intelligence service), Niccolo Pollari, director of SISMI (military intelligence), and Luigi Ramponi, the former chief of SISMI. Pollari was recently fired and is under criminal investigation for his role in the CIA’s kidnapping and rendition of Abu Omar, an Egyptian imam, from a Milan street in 2003. Pollari’s deputy, Gen. Nicola Calipari, was assassinated in March 2005 by U.S. military forces in Baghdad while on a rescue mission for an Italian journalist taken hostage by insurgents. Calipari’s widow, Rosa Maria Calipari, is now a Senator in the governing left-center coalition of Prime Minister Romano Prodi.

Scaramella and Litvinenko were involved in political dirty tricks operations against Prodi. Scaramella also targeted Alfonso Pecararo Scanio, the leader of the Italian Green Party and now Minister of the Environment) and Antonio Bassolini, the current President of Campania. As with the law enforcement investigators in San Marino, Scaramella accused Pecararo Scanio and Bassolini of being involved with the “KGB” to cover his own illicit activities. The District Attorney for Reggio Calabria, Alberto Cisterna, and a Parliamentary Committee has a case file on the illegal dumping of toxic waste in which Scaramella’s name appears as a suspect in the sinking of the “Rigel,” which was loaded with toxic waste, off the Calabrian coast.

Mario Scaramella: Links to various “usual suspects” indicate that Litvinenko affair may be the tip of the iceberg that could lead to past and future global false flag terrorism operation aimed at the United States and its allies. If Vladimir Putin hit this criminal network, he deserves our eternal thanks and not our condemnation.

Scaramella’s reported involvement with the Imam kidnapping confirms earlier reports that the CIA (or more likely, the parallel Pentagon operation established by Donald Rumsfeld, Stephen Cambone, and Douglas Feith) was assisted in the operation by private Italian intelligence agents linked to SISMI and SISDE. Scaramella reportedly had a fleet of SUVs, Range Rovers, and well-armed private security guards at his disposal. The Naples Camorra is also reportedly now under the operational control of the Russian-Israeli Mafia.

Scaramella has also been linked to the operational chief for the kidnapping and rendition of Abu Omar, Robert Seldon Lady, reputedly the CIA station chief in Milan. His official cover was reportedly Political Military Officer at the U.S. Consulate, a portfolio not usually assigned to a consulate but only to embassies or special missions. Lady and his CIA associates are now wanted by Italian authorities in the kidnapping. Lady has ties to CIA contra activities in Central America in the 1980s. Lady has also been linked to the Rocco Martino-Manucher Ghorbanifar bogus Niger “yellowcake” uranium documents used to justify the U.S. attack on Iraq. Martino is an Italian intelligence broker who tried to frame the French in the yellowcake affair and Ghorbanifar, a native of Iran, is a longtime agent of influence and back channel liaison to Iran for the Israeli Mossad. Lady retired from the CIA in 2004 and departed Italy in 2005. If there are now links between the CIA and organized crime, it marks a dramatic return to the past for the agency. In the 1950s and 1960s, the CIS coordinated a number of its activities with members of the Italian Mafia.

Lady is reportedly spending much of his time in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, a place where he was active in the Contra affair in the 1980s at the same time John Negroponte, now Director of National Intelligence, served as ambassador to Honduras and effectively ran the CIA’s death squads in the country. Lady also reportedly maintains a residence in Abita Springs, Louisiana, near New Orleans. During the Iran-Contra affair, a scandal engineered partly by Ghorbanifar, Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North, current National Security Council official Elliott Abrams, and Michael Ledeen, now of the American Enterprise Institute, Lady ran Contra support operations from the Honduran military base at Ojo de Agua, 30 miles northwest of Tegucigalpa.

Scaramella apparently used his environmental organization as a way to establish close contact with various Green Party officials. He also has a past connection with Michael Penders, a former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) legal counsel for criminal enforcement and now President of Environmental Security, Inc. (ESI), headquartered in the Willard Office Building in downtown Washington, just one block from the White House. The firm also maintains an office in Manassas, Virginia. According to the Italian magazine, Panorama, Scaramella boasted of his contacts with Penders. Penders’ biography on the ESI web site states, “In 2004, Mr. Penders chaired a U.S.-Israel group of experts that developed the draft international standard for Security Management Systems (SMS). Last year, ESI led pilot studies testing the integrated SMS standard at critical infrastructure facilities in the US, Israel, and Italy.”

ESI’s website has the conference agenda for a Nov. 15 and 16, 2000 conference in New York City on “Combating International Eco-Crime in a Global Economy: The Use of Technologies and Information Management to Monitor Compliance with International Agreements, Prosecute Environmental Crime, and Reform Environmental Law and Trade.” Penders and Scaramella both spoke at the conference. Their biographies are included:

“Michael Penders is the president of Environmental Security International (ESI), a new company with offices in Washington, D.C., New York, Phoenix, and Rome. ESI conducts investigations, implements environmental management and security systems, and offers consulting services involving the application of new technologies, policies, legislation, and training to improve environmental performance. Previously, Mr. Penders was the Director of Legal Counsel with EPA’s Office of Criminal Enforcement.”

“Dr. Mario Scaramella, a professor at the University of Naples in Italy and Secretary General of the ECPP, described the mission of the ECPP as providing environmental protection and security through technology on a global basis, particularly for developing nations. ECPP has offices at the Fucino Space Center in Italy, the largest civilian space center in the world. ECPP has used aerial surveillance and the remote sensing capabilities of satellites to detect environmental crimes in Eastern and Southern Europe and eco-terrorism in Central Africa and South America.”

The UK’s Daily Mail is reporting that Scaramella has “deep knowledge” of nuclear materials and where they are located. In addition, Scaramella claims a connection to Colombia. He claims he was a professor of environmental law at Externado University and the University of Nuestra Senora del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia from 1996 to 2000. He also claims to have been a professor during the same time at the University of Naples. The University of Naples says it has no record of Scaramella being a professor at the institution. He also claims to have been a visiting professor at Stanford and was the director of a Stanford NATO program that visited Lithuania. (Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is the former Provost of Stanford). In 2002, Scaramella says he was in charge of a training program for the Colombian police and was a visiting professor at Greenwich University in London.

The links between Litvinenko, Scaramella, Boris Berezovsky, and other elements of the weapons smuggling Russian-Israeli Mafia and Litvinenko’s poisoning on Nov. 1 in London, just a week prior to the November 7 elections in the United States, may indicate that a much larger plot was afoot than in just the corporate media fantasy that Vladimir Putin silenced a political opponent. If Litvinenko and Scaramella were involved in the smuggling of dangerous radioactive material for an early November “surprise” designed to influence the American election and an “accident” arranged by Russian intelligence resulted in the plot’s failure, President Putin, if he is knowledgeable at all about the case, deserves the utmost thanks and gratitude of the American people for helping to expose what may be a key operational element of a failed attack on the U.S. or U.S. interests abroad and other false flag operations directed against the United States, including 9/11.

The reported links between Alexander Litvinenko’s Italian interlocutor Mario Scaramella and at least one former official of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Criminal Enforcement’s Center for Strategic Environmental Enforcement raise some troubling issues, according to an EPA insider.

A top EPA official attended, along with Scaramella and former EPA criminal enforcement branch legal counsel Michael Penders, the Nov. 15 and 16, 2000 conference in New York City on “Combating International Eco-Crime in a Global Economy. The official represented the EPA’s Office of Criminal Enforcement’s Center for Strategic Environmental Enforcement. That office has been described by an EPA insider as consisting of “cover up artists.” The insider further stated the EPA criminal investigative branch “has access to NASA skyviewing . . . geographical information system (GIS), they know where every little ounce of bad stuff is in the world and they can get access to it.” The insider said it would not surprise him in the very least that “the [polonium] 210 came from people inside this group. Their loyalty ties strongly to Bush and company” and that previous external-to-EPA criminal investigations “thwarted some of their past misdeeds.”

The EPA enforcement center’s data import/export database system has the capability to “identify suspect shipments,” according to the EPA. A number of other EPA officials, including those involved in international issues, attended the New York conference.

Scaramella’s Environmental Crime Prevention Program, falsely billed as a European counterpart to the EPA’s Center for Strategic Environmental Enforcement, also claims a similar role: “aerial surveillance and the remote sensing capabilities of satellites to detect environmental crimes in Eastern and Southern Europe and eco-terrorism in Central Africa and South America.”

The compromise of agencies in the United States and Europe that are responsible for monitoring the location and transport of nuclear materials represents an immense danger to public safety around the world.

Equally interesting is that Scaramella once offered FS (the Italian Railway) an estimated 17 million euro video surveillance system for free. The system would have covered every train station and other railway facility in Italy. Scaramella’s deal was that he would provide the system for free in exchange for the exclusive use of the video images captured by the system.

Scaramella offered Italian Railways free 17 million euro video surveillance system in return for exclusive use of captured images.

December 15-17, 2006 — The UK Independence Party (UKIP) vehemently denies our Dec. 11 report that the party has any ties to the British National Front/Party. We based our report on press reports linking some of its past members to British National Front/Party activities. We accept the UKIP statement to us that they have no current ties or links with the British far right/neo-fascist parties. A supporter of the UKIP, in an email to the editor, says the UKIP’s interest in Alexander Litvinenko was merely due to the fact that a former KGB officer had information on Romano Prodi, a former European Commission President (and current Prime Minister) being a KGB agent. Litivinenko was apparently invited to speak to a UKIP conference about Prodi and the KGB. The UKIP is adamantly opposed to the European Union and may have been taken in by the bogus attempt by Litvinenko and his Italian counterpart, Mario Scaramella, to paint Prodi, the former top EU bureaucrat, as a KGB agent. The Scaramella-Litvinenko operation was an operation designed by forces loyal to Italian right-wing then-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to conduct a dirty trick operation against Prodi and his leftist-centrist alliance."

"Litvinenko reportedly had links to the Israel-based Russian mafia.

Reportedly al Qaeda has links to the Russian-Israeli mafia.

Reportedly, Litvinenko had visited the London office of the British private military contractor Erinsys, Ltd, which has been linked to Iraqi National Congress neocon agent Ahmad Chalabi."

The Ripper Protocols

There's a scene in David Fincher's Zodiac where the incredibly overworked and almost burnt out San Francisco homicide detective working around the clock to track down and arrest the Zodiac is persuaded to take a night off and just go to the movies with his wife to see the new Dirty Harry flick;

The modern social construct of the serial killer was invented in California during Ronald Reagan's two gubernatorial terms in office, where they were systematically emptying out all the psychiatric wards and low-medium security state prisons, having given many of the inmates an initial trauma-bonded program of mental conditioning patterned on the Dianetics-based auditing that they had been developing with the Phoenix Program Death Squads in Vietnam.

Serial killers basically do not exist in nature under ordinary social conditions, as testified to by basic reality that it's actually in fact extremely difficult for any one person to possess the means to kill a series of two or more people in a messy, gory and up close way, with blood and spit and other kinds of extremely incriminating forensic markers that  would connect the killer to his victims very directly, without police assistance. The longer and more numerous the series of killings, the more absurd it becomes that the police keep coming up empty for any leads.

The archetypal template for the modern serial killer psychopath, the primary source for close to, if not exactly all of the recognised Memes of the Serial Killer Myth comes to us from the Whitechapel Murders of 1888 - for almost 80 years, lacking any formal legal or clinical term to refer to a murderous stranger that kills brutally, mercilessly to strike out with what seemed to be inhuman rage and cruelty, practically it would seem almost at random, such killers attracted to their criminal reputations the name of Ripper.

The following things tend to occur in a serial killer plot:
  • The killer sends a note to the police, or a newspaper, or both, with a taunting message that ends in a challenge along the lines of "You can't catch me." A gruesome souvenir may also be included.
    • A variation is to have the killer send a message saying "Please catch me before I kill more."
  • Serial killers are often, but not always, portrayed as The Chessmaster, brilliantly layering one Evil Plan onto another. Often, this takes the form of a series of Batman Gambits that lead the police on a series of wild goose chases as the killer gloats.
  • They have a wall full of newspaper clippings covering their actions. Sometimes they keep a photographic record of their kills, or even a souvenir of the victim's.
  • If it's part of a Story Arc, one cop is probably going to fall victim (which is part of the requisite Tonight Someone Dies hype).
  • At the climax, one of the cops is usually Alone with the Psycho, but is saved Just in Time.
  • If the killer is not depicted as Ax-Crazy, then the victims all have something to do with one another.
  • If somebody else is wrongfully implicated, and looks close to taking the rap, the serial killer will bump them off, even though this means casting suspicion back on himself.
    • Or the killer will kill again while the wrongfully accused is incarcerated, casting suspicion back on himself.
    • Sometimes he will do it because it casts suspicion back towards himself, because he is insulted that the police suspect someone he considers unworthy of the attention.
  • The killer might leave a distinctive Calling Card at each scene of his crimes.
  • The killer might be a Poetic Serial Killer, who kills bad people with ironic methods.
  • Or they're a Theme Serial Killer, and they have a set of themes (possibly taken from a poem/book), with each victim fitting the next theme in the killer's list (which they rarely get to complete).
  • The killer will fondly recall or talk about their victims.
  • Some of these plots have the Serial Killer insert themselves into the investigation, either by posing as a witness, victim, or in some cases, an investigator. The killer's purpose in doing this is either to misdirect the police or prove how much smarter the killer is than the cops. While it's much more common in fiction, this has actually happened in real life.

Serial Killer plots tend to be men killing women, although The Bill subverted this. This is somewhat realistic, however, because in the real world, the vast majority of serial killers are men — or, more exactly, men tend to murder in ways that make it easier for them to get caught. Female serial killers will typically be Angels of Death and may work in health care or similar vocations. In fiction, they'll often have a Torture Cellar or do their killings in a Sinister Subway.

Over the last few years, daytime soaps have had an unusually high number of serial killers. One Life to Live has had at least two in as many years. It's the chic way for producers to pare down their casts.

It's notable that many of these behaviors are realistic for serial killers, though seeing all of them with one killer is unlikely. Also notable is the fact that they are practically never allowed to go uncaught by the end, despite many of the most famous unsolved cases in history being serial killer investigations.

Sometimes they are more like a so-called 'Spree killer', i.e. someone who goes on a murderous rampage in a smaller area over a shorter time. In fact, this is more common than actual serial killers, though characters often confuse the two, as time contraints mean the killings in a story usually take place over the space of a few days, whereas real serial killers by definition usually have weeks, months, or years between their kills.

The term "serial killer" isn't actually that old; it was coined in German (as "Serienmörder", serial murderer) in 1930 by Ernst Gennat, the highly influential director of the Berlin criminal police in the 1930s. "Serial murderer" crops up in 1966 and "serial killer" is generally attributed to FBI agent Robert Ressler in the 1970s, it didn't enter popular culture until 1981.

A counterpart to the Serial Rapist; it's not uncommon for the tropes to overlap. Compare with Psycho for Hire, where a job that requires killing people is used by villains to act out their sadism. See also Hunting the Most Dangerous Game, where someone makes an actual sport out of killing people. The killer feared by other killers is a Serial-Killer Killer.

Note that the Real Life section below is only a very small sampling of well-known serial murderers. Also, many potential Serial Killers get caught quickly because they use an MO, and also because a lot of them are so sick and broken that they want to get caught — yes, they see it as some kind of game.

Hollywood Accredits the Memes.

  • Many a fictional serial killer is Very Loosely Based on a True StoryEd Gein and Albert Fishin particular have a lot of Captain Ersatz counterparts based on them.
    • Buffalo Bill and Hannibal Lecter from Silence of Lambs are, respectively, loosely based on Gein and Fish.
      • Mama's boy Norman Bates is also based on Gein.
      • And elements of the The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) were inspired by Gein's gruesome style of interior decorating.
      • Buffalo Bill was also partly based on Bundy, namely, the bit where Bill pretends to be disabled and asks his victim for help to move/carry something.
      • Buffalo Bill is also based on Gary Heidnik, who abducted women and imprisoned them in his basement. However, his motives were to make the women his harem, whereas Bill had no sexual interest in his captives.
    • It is worth noting, however, that Gein himself is a subversion via the most technical details. As disturbing as his story is, he was only known to have committed two murders and was only technically convicted for one of them. Three murders is the baseline for law enforcement when classifying serial killers. There is some speculation that he also killed his brother, who died under mysterious circumstances, but it was never proven.
  • Albert DeSalvo is a controversial case. He confessed to being the infamous Boston Strangler, but was never tried for the killings, but rather a series of rapes. To this day there is a lot of debate about whether he was the murderer or a fall guy.
  • Similar to the Boston Strangler case, William Heirens was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of two women and a young girl in Chicago. He confessed, but whether his interview was either coerced or forced is up to question.
  • Harvey Glatman confessed to raping and murdering three women in California, luring them by posing as a photographer.
Glatman: The reason I killed those girls was 'cause they asked me to. They did, all of them.
    Officer: They asked you to?
Glatman: Sure. They said they'd rather be dead than be with me.
  • Jerry Brudos wasn't very prolific, but he stands out for one particular reason: at his trial, he argued that a photograph of him with one of his victims couldn't be used as evidence against him because the victim in the picture wasn't the person he had been accused of killing.
    • To be fair, he's got an argument there. If he wasn't charged with killing the person in the photo, it's irrelevant to the specific case at hand and extremely prejudicial to the jury.
  • Dean Corll was the first serial killer to get nation-wide publicity in the US. He raped, tortured and murdered at least 28 boys (probably more) in Houston, Texas in the 1970's. He owned a candy store and was often called the Candy Man, a name that in hindsight seems like a gigantic red flag. And he had two teenaged accomplices, David Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley, who procured victims and helped kill them. Brooks did it because he seemed to be in love with Corll; Henley was probably Only in It for the Money.
  • The most prolific serial killer in history, who didn't advertise it, was Harold Shipman. A British medical doctor, he was sent down for a full life term (no possibility of parole) in 2000 for 15 murders, using drug overdoses. Investigations concluded that he had, overall, killed at least 215 people, mostly old women, and probably 250, if not more (459 patients had died in his care overall, but it is unclear how many he actually killed since many of his patients were elderly). He committed suicide in 2004.
    • A likely American counterpart to Shipman was Charles Cullen, who plead guilty in 2004 for killing around forty patients over the course of his 16-year nursing career. Authorities strongly suspect that he may have committed up to four hundred murders, which if true would completely overshadow Shipman's record. His emotionless interview on 60 Minutes is the stuff Nightmare Fuel is made of.
    • Then there's Michael Swango, a medical student and one-time EMT believed to have killed at least four and possibly sixty of his patients between 1983 and 1997 by overdosing them on drugs or using poison. While employed in non-medial occupations, he would slip arsenic into his coworker's food to try and poison them too. When his notoriety became such that he couldn't get work in US hospitals, he fled to Africa where he continued killing until his final apprehension.
    • Arfinn Nesset. A Norwegian serial killer that is nearly the same as the three above. However this guy is still alive and free. Scary right?
  • One special episode of the A&E series The First 48 had the detectives being documented discover a genuine serial killer, one who actually did call the police to gloat when the first bodies were discovered. Even more unbelievably (in the sense of "it only happens in movies") they actually did use sound analysis of the call for background noise and tracking the cellphone to pinpoint his location.
  • Jack the Ripper, murdered and brutally mutilated five prostitutes in London's Whitechapel district in 1888. One of the first to have his crimes extensively documented by the media as they happened and certainly the most famous uncaught serial killer in history.
    • Similarly, Peter Sutcliffe murdered 13 women he believed to be prostitutes over a five-year span, earning him the alias "The Yorkshire Ripper" in the press.
    • "Jack the Stripper", who killed several prostitutes by choking them to death. Like Saucy Jack, he was never caught.
  • One of America's first serial killers was Herman Mudgett, better known as H.H. Holmes, who was most active during the time of Chicago's Colombian Exposition. He killed mostly women, and while it's confirmed he killed at least 27, some people believe the true body count to be over a hundred. He committed his crimes in a labyrinthine hotel/boarding house that was full of secret passages, a Torture Cellar and at least one Gas Chamber (masquerading as just another room). It was designed from the start to be a murder house for his own depraved amusement.
  • John Douglas is one of the first Real Life profilers, actually writing the book on the patterns of serial killers (several, in fact). It wasn't without cost, though; the cumulative stress of the work nearly killed him. His autobiography, Mindhunter, is highly recommended to anyone interested in the subject.
  • Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee Cannibal, who raped, murdered and dismembered seventeen young men and boys in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and whose later murders involved necrophilia, cannibalism and the permanent preservation of body parts — typically part of or all of the victim's skeletal structure. He was sentenced to life in prison, and eventually was beaten to death by another inmate.
  • Carl Panzram.
    • Quote: "In my lifetime I have murdered 21 human beings, I have committed thousands of burglaries, robberies, larcenies, arsons and last but not least I have committed sodomy [read: rape] on more than 1,000 male human beings. For all these things I am not in the least bit sorry."
    • Originally Panzram was only sentenced to twenty-five years. Why was he executed? When they sent him to Leavenworth, he told the warden, "I'll kill the first man that bothers me." You hear this a lot, but Panzram kept that promise - he beat the laundry foreman to death with an iron bar, and then threatened to kill the human rights groups that tried to appeal the death sentence he got for it! Specifically, he sent them a letter containing the now-legendary line, "The only sentiment you'll get out of me is that I wish you all had one neck and I had my hands around it." He reportedly also criticized his own hangman for taking too long while prepping him for said execution.
  • Aileen Wuornos, whose story inspired the movie Monster.
  • Ted Bundy, who popularized the idea of the boy-next-door serial killer who blends in effortlessly with the general community.
  • Robert Pickton, who inspired the Criminal Minds season 4 finale.
  • Richard Trenton Chase, the Vampire of Sacramento. His Wikipedia article alone consists of pure Nightmare Fuel.
  • Belle Gunness
  • Timothy Spencer is notable for two reasons: he was a rare interracial serial killer, and he was the first murderer to be convicted on the basis of DNA evidence, which also exonerated an innocent man convicted of one of his crimes. He was executed in 1994 for the rape, torture and murder of five women.
  • John Wayne Gacy, most notable for being a party clown when not slaughtering young men and hiding them in the crawlspace under his house. Notably, when he realized the cops were after him, he taunted them by publicly smoking weed and breaking traffic laws, knowing they didn't want him on lesser charges and even picked up the restaurant tabs of the detectives who had him under surveillance. Eventually he got so bold, he invited cops to his house for dinner, where they caught the smell of rotting flesh that was his ultimate undoing.
  • One of the most prolific in history, Andrei Chikatilo, who killed over fifty women and children. The reason he got away with it for so long was because the Soviet Union, where he lived and killed, was in denial and believed serial killers to be a consequence of the "decadent west". He may actually be the partial basis for Roark Jr, aka That Yellow Bastard, in Sin City, particularly the part about "can't get it up without hearing his victims scream".
    • Although it is debatable just how many victims were really his, and how many were simply unsolved murders that the Soviet authorities pinned on him once they had someone to blame for them. He certainly was a prolific killer, but just how prolific may never actually be known.
  • Charles Manson himself may not have been a serial killer, but his followers, the Manson Family absolutely were. A serial killer is defined as someone who kills more than three people with a "cooling off" period in between the killings. Music teacher Gary Hinman was murdered by the Family on July 25, 1969. On August 9, 1969, they murdered five people, six if you count Sharon Tate's unborn baby; the next night, they killed grocers Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. On the 26th, they killed Donald "Shorty" Shea, a Hollywood stuntman. That's nine people (ten if you count Tate's child) in just a few weeks. In addition, other people are suspected of having been victims of the family, including Ronald Hughes, one member's defense attorney (believed to have been killed for balking at letting his client sacrifice herself to clear Manson). Although he was a chief conspirator in all of the killings, Manson did not personally draw a single drop of blood — except for cutting Hinman's ear off, according to testimony — but the various members of his "family" could certainly count as serial killers, especially Charles "Tex" Watson (Tate, LaBianca and Shea murders), Susan Atkins (Hinman and Tate), and Patricia Krenwinkel (Tate and LaBianca).
    • Charles Manson himself is suspected of killing at least one person - a black man who he believed was a member of the Black Panthers (or claimed to believe); he started preaching his race-war creed "Helter Skelter" shortly afterwards. Whether he genuinely thought the Black Panthers were out to get him or if it was just another level of manipulation is unknown. He is also known to have taken part in at least one of the Family murders; he did not kill the victim, but he tied her up for his followers to do so.
  • David "Son of Sam" Berkowitz. Claims to fame: Saying that his neighbor's dog told him to kill, sending rambling letters to the newspapers and shooting his victims with a .44 Special revolver. (He was dubbed "The .44 Caliber Killer" in the press before the bizarreness with the dog came out.)
  • The Zodiac, who was never caught during his lifetime. Authorities seem to have narrowed their area of suspicion down to about a dozen different men. However almost all of whom are now dead so even if they do manage to figure it out, there's a good chance they'll never be able to bring the guy to justice.
  • copycat of the Zodiac. Heriberto Seda, and was caught because he sent some many messages to the police that when he shot his sister's boyfriend with a zip gun, the cops recognized his M.O. and his handwriting.
  • Tommy Lynn Sells, recently claimed to have killed 70+ people, once said that he didn't like/use guns, because they were dangerous.
  • Countess Elizabeth Báthory is one of history's most prolific serial killers, tortured and killed over 500 women, although she was only convicted for 80. Legend has it she did this so that she could bathe in the blood of young virgins and maintain her vitality, but it is believed Báthory did it for the fun of it, which is far more chilling.
    • However, modern Hungarian historians have attempted to give her a Historical Hero Upgrade claiming that maybe she wasn't a serial killer at all, but a victim of a show trial by the Habsburgs to get her land and fortune. However the reports of the murders, which her husband joined in with, are far closer to contemporary and it seems fairly likely that she killed at least some. The notaries in the case took testimony from more than 300 witnesses, several of whom lost relatives. Two of the accused named around 36 victims (although they may well have been tortured so the reliability of that is up for debate).
  • Pedro López, the "Monster of the Andes" raped and killed at least a hundred, but maybe three hundred, young girls across South America. The higher figure would make him one of the most prolific known serial killer in history. What could be scarier than that? He's been a free man since 1998 and is wanted for murder again.
  • Gilles de Rais was a French nobleman, war hero, compatriot of Joan Of Arc and murdered at least 80 children between 1432 and 1440, the majority of whom were also raped or sexually abused. Much like Bathory, a few people have tried claiming that he was framed by the church to acquire his lands but that's extremely unlikely since firstly, the church didn't have a hope of acquiring his lands (which ended up going to the Duke of Brittany); secondly, his confederates gave very detailed testimony and thirdly, around forty bodies were discovered. Margaret Murray has also tried claiming that he was a Dianic pagan who was subject to religious persecution but the evidence for this is virtually nil.
  • Australia had Eric Cooke, an unusual serial killer who changed his M.O. Two innocent men were also charged with crimes Cooke committed, but have since been exonerated. He earned a bit of notoriety for being the last man hanged in Australia.
  • "BTK" (Bind, Torture, Kill): Dennis Rader, who murdered 10 people in the Sedgwick county area of Wichita, Kansas from 1977-1989 while sending taunting letters and poems to the police, and was caught approximately a decade and a half after his last victim, because after such a long time he got bored and started sending letters to the police again, announcing that he was plotting his next murder. Lots of televison shows have since had a take on him, though most commonly the reason for their killer's lengthy absence is that he was seriously injured in some way and had to temporarily stop.note
  • Henry Lee Lucas is an interesting case. While he confessed to the murder of nearly 600 people (including people who turned out to still be alive), he often would recant his confessions, only to confess to other murders. He often became the "go-to" guy by police departments who wanted to clear their unsolved murder files. Since he was already sentenced to death, he relished in the attention that the confessions brought him. When he died in prison in 2001, forensics were only able to confirm 3 of his confessions, which technically did make him a serial killer. His supposed exploits inspired the brilliant Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
  • Gary Ridgway, better known as the Green River Killer, is one of the most prolific serial killers of the 20th century. He was convicted for the murder of 48 women over the course of three decades. However it is believed that he killed up to 90 women.
    • Ridgway is, in many ways, something of an outlier as far as serial killers go. His motivations didn't entirely fit into either the mission based or power/control categories, although not particularly intelligent and rather spontaneous in his killings (a stereotypical "disorganized" killer), he had an uncanny ability to hide bodies and eliminate evidence (he was caught due to a DNA swab from one of his first victims), and he was able to either stop or greatly curtail his killings for a considerable length of time. This has led many conspiracy theorists to believe that the Green River killings were the work of multiple killers, and that large parts of Ridgway's confessions were fabricated.
  • Richard Ramirez is notorious for his completely random modus operandi as well as choice of victim. He terrorized the whole LA area in the 80's. He died of natural causes at age 53 in 2013, after spending over 23 years on death row.
  • The Cleveland Torso Murderer is an especially gruesome example of an unsolved serial killing case. As the name suggests, the victims of this killer were dismembered and some of them were disembowled. Only a handful of the victims could be identified, making it an even more disturbing case. He/She also might be the culprit behind the infamous Black Dahlia murder.
  • Peter Kürten, also known as the Vampire of Düsseldorf. Known for being one of the first investigations to use a criminal profile.
  • The Servant Girl Annihilator, in turn of the century killer from Austin, Texas. Noted for stalking black and white women with an axe, his crimes predate Jack the Ripper by only a few years, leading the newspapers of the time to claim the two were the same man. Two men were tried for the crime, but no one was ever convicted. The killings were supposedly the indirect inspiration for the famous moon towers that dot the Austin cityscape.
  • Edmund Kemper, 6'9" tall, over 300 pounds of weight and IQ of 145. Started with his grandparents (at 15) and worked his way from there. When asked by the judge what he thought a suitable punishment for his crimes would be, Kemper answered, "Death by torture." He got life imprisonment instead.
  • Levi Bellfield only murdered three woman (and attempted to kill two others), but one of those murders (the murder of Milly Dowler) he got away with for years until he was suspected of it in 2008 and convicted in 2011 (he had been convicted of the other murders in 2008).
  • Vaughn Greenwood, "the Skid Row Slasher". Notable in that his list of victims very nearly included famous stuntman and director Hal Needham.
  • Donald Henry "Pee-Wee" Gaskins, "The Redneck Charles Manson". He claimed to have killed over a hundred people, though the confirmed number is much smaller. A number of his victims were hitchhikers he picked up near the South Carolina coast, then brutalized and murdered (eventually; he enjoyed making them suffer) in various ways For the Evulz. He even claimed to have cannibalized some of them.
  • Yang Xinhai, called "Monster Killer", was the worst serial killer of China. He confessed to committing 65 murders between 1999 and 2003. He'd enter homes at night and kill everybody inside with axes, hammers and shovels. He was sentenced to death and executed in 2004.
  • Rodney Alcala, perhaps most (in)famous because he was a contestant on The Dating Game back in 1978, right in the middle of his murderous rampage, and won. Luckily for the woman who chose him, she later found him too creepy and refused to go on a date with him.
  • The Axeman of New Orleans rampaged through the city from May 1918 to October 1919, slaughtering Italian-Americans. He was never captured. Notoriously, he sent a letter to a newspaper claiming that he would strike on a given date... but would spare anyone listening to jazz. (Every music hall in New Orleans was filled to capacity that night, and no murders were reported.)
  • Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, who buried their child victims on a moor near Manchester. One of the bodies has yet to be found.
  • Thomas Quick/Sture Bergwall note , Sweden's most notorious serial killer, who may have not actually killed anyone. He has confessed to around 30 murders, supposedly committed in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland between 1964 and 1993, and has been convicted of eight of them. He is mentally ill, and is serving his sentence in a mental institution. In later years, the convictions have been questioned, the reason being that he was convicted on very shaky grounds based mostly on his own confessions and not much else, and the fact that a lot of his confessions simply don't make any sense. In 2008 he officially recanted all of his confessions. Public opinion of is all over the place. Some think he killed all the people he originally confessed to killing, some think he may have killed some of them but probably not the more far-fetched ones, and some think he's simply a sick, attention seeking man who has been used in the most heinous of ways by police and other authorities trying to make themselves look good by catching a serial killer.
  • It's somewhat surprising that Saldivar Efren isn't better known. While his methods aren't unusual (he was an Angel of Death killer, a doctor, and used muscle relaxants to murder), his motives are truly horrifying. He felt that the hospital staff where he worked were overburdened, and killed excess patients to reduce the workload. A few years ago a documentary on his killings interviewed a number of people involved in the case, who felt that to this day he sincerely believes he was BEING HELPFUL!
  • Lonnie David Franklin Jr. AKA the Grim Sleeper, was a serial killer who operated in African American communities of California during the time of the gang wars between the Bloods and the Crips which spanned from the 80s to the early 90s. Because of this, many of his killings of African American women went completely unnoticed by the Los Angeles police department, whom believe the killings were done by different people. After one of his victims survived getting shot, a female reporter, Christine Pelisek, who interviewed the victim, realized a serial killer was preying on African American women for over a decade and decided to do a personal investigation. After uncovering evidence, she finally convinced a doubtful police department to take the theory seriously. This led to many Unfortunate Implications by the African-American citizens who already didn't trust the California police, believing they let the serial killer reign, because they didn't care about black victims. He was finally caught in 2010, thanks to DNA evidence found on a piece of pizza he didn't finish at a local pizza place he frequented. A Lifetime Movie of the Week, called the The Grim Sleeper, came out in March of 2014, detailing the case from the POV of the reporter. He has yet to face justice for the murders as of 2014, because his defense attorney keeps delaying the trial.
  • A candidate for Jane Goodall's most disturbing discovery was a chimpanzee serial killer. The chimp in question, dubbed Passion, would systematically kill unrelated infants, recruiting her daughter, Pom, as an accomplice. Even human intervention would not stop her. Not only that, she would always make reconciliatory gestures toward her victims' mothers after she was done. The killings only stopped when Passion died. Pom, once free from her mother's influence, turned out to be perfectly normal, as were her own children. The killings themselves, combined with Passion's general emotional distance from the troupe and especially her own children, and her manipulation of the other adults were all eerily similar to a human psychopath.
  • John Reginald Christie, subject of the book and film 10 Rillington Place. He killed at least seven women (including his wife) and a 13 month old child between 1943 and 1953, usually tenants of his flat in London. Most victims were gassed, sexually assaulted and finally strangled to death; Christie either buried their corpses in his garden, or concealed them behind his apartment wall. He's most notorious for framing Timothy Evans, husband and father of two of his victims; Evans was hanged, and after Christie's arrest, the resultant outcry over Evans' wrongful conviction played a role in Britain's repeal of capital punishment.
  • Another non-human example who targets his own species is Hannibal the swan who inhabited a pond in Pembroke. He would target swans who wandered under the bridge, where his family lived, and would drown and beat them to death. He attacked 37 swans, and killed 15 of them.
