The More Tangled Forest

.
It begins with The King as a boy, having to spend the night alone in The Forest
to prove his courage so he can become King.

Now while he is spending the night alone he's visited by a sacred vision.

Out of The Fire appears The Holy Grail, symbol of God's Divine Grace.

And a voice said to The Boy,
"You shall be keeper of The Grail so that it may heal the Hearts of Men."

But The Boy was blinded by greater visions of a life filled with Power and Glory and Beauty

And in this state of radical amazement he felt for a brief moment not like a boy,
but invincible, like God,
so he reached into The Fire to take The Grail,
and The Grail vanished,
leaving him with his hand in the fire to be terribly wounded.

Now as this boy grew older, his wound grew deeper.

Until one day,
Life for him lost its reason.

He had no faith in any man,
not even himself.

He couldn't love or feel loved.

He was sick with experience.

He began to die.

One day a Fool wandered into the castle
and found The King alone.

And being a Fool, he was simple minded,
he didn't see a king.

He only saw a man alone and in pain.

And he asked The King,
"What ails you friend?"

The King replied,
"I'm thirsty. I need some water to cool my throat".

So The Fool took a cup from beside his bed, filled it with water and handed it to The King.

As The King began to drink,
he realized his wound was healed.

He looked in his hands and there was The Holy Grail,
That which he sought all of his life.

And he turned to The Fool and said with amazement,
"How can you find that which my brightest and bravest could not?"

And The Fool replied,
"I don't know.

I only knew that you were thirsty."

Arthur :
Save him, Merlin.

Merlyn, of The Gloam :
He has no will to live.

Arthur :
Bring him back, whatever the cost.
Whatever the cost! Do it!

Merlyn, of The Gloam :
So be it.

Arthur :
Will he live?

Merlyn, of The Gloam :
Oh, yes.

Arthur :
Will Guenevere...?

Merlyn, of The Gloam :
Yes.

Arthur :
Merlin, will I ever have a son?

Merlyn, of The Gloam :
Yes.

Arthur :
No riddles, nothing but a simple yes?
That frightens me.

Merlyn, of The Gloam :
But a King should be afraid, Arthur, always...
...of The Enemy waiting everywhere...
...in the corridors of his castle...
...on the deer paths of his forest...
...or in a more tangled forest...

Fell a Victim

fell (adj.)

"cruel," late 13c., possibly late Old English, perhaps from Old French fel "cruel, fierce, vicious," from Medieval Latin fello "villain" (see felon). Phrase at one fell swoop is from "Macbeth." Related: Fellness.

fell (n.1)

"rocky hill," c. 1300, from Old Norse fiall "mountain," from Proto-Germanic *felzam- "rock" (source also of Old High German felisa, German Fels "stone, rock"), from PIE root *pel(i)s- "rock, cliff." Old High German felisa "a rock" is the source of French falaise (formerly falize) "cliff." Now mostly in place-names, such as Scafell Pike, highest mountain in England.

fell (v.2)

past tense of fall (v.), Old English feoll.

fell (n.2)

"skin or hide of an animal," Old English fel "skin, hide, garment of skin," from Proto-Germanic *fella- (source also of Old Frisian fel, Old Saxon fel, Dutch vel, Old High German fel, German fell, Old Norse fiall, Gothic fill "skin, hide"), from PIE *pel-no-, suffixed form of root *pel- (3) "skin, hide."
Related: Fellmonger

At this stage, this one particular point is one that well bears reiteration and clarification :

Precisely, What is a Victim?
and
What Qualities or Attributes are generally characteristic of Victimhood*?

* with particular preference for those which be detected from making  objective observations of their presence or occurrence in any given case being evaluated.

"...So, this is what He [Satan] essentially said [during an exorcism] :-

He said, 'We Do Not Have The Right to afflict people, or cause problems in these areas of their lives, by shutting off their finances or destroying their relationships, here -

It means, that when something really  BAD  happens in their lives, they will just go

it keeps recurring,
everything I do, nothing's working.."

so they just give it over [to The Demons] , so They can just maraude the person's life.

THAT'S THEIR GOAL
or at least,
BE UNIMPEDED

WE HAVE RIGHTS OVER OUR GOOD REPUTATION

WE HAVE RIGHTS OVER THE PRODUCT OF OUR WORK

'You Have Rights Over These Things

You Need to Reassert Your Rights

Kick Us Out!'

and that's what We started doing."

Bartlet heads to the door. He stops as he remembers something.
BARTLET
Oh, Roger, if anything happened, you know what to do, right?

TRIBBYI honestly hadn't thought about it sir.

BARTLET

First thing always is national security.

Get your commanders together.
Appoint joint chiefs.
Appoint chairman.
Take them to Defcon 4.

Have the governor send emergency delegates to Washington.
The assistant attorney general is gonna be the acting A.G
If he tells you he wants to bring out the National Guard, do what he tells you.

LEO'S OFFICE.
As Bartlet tells Tribby the procedure, we see Leo walk into his office to get his coat.
The door to the Oval Office is open so he can hear the President and Tribby, but couldn't see them.
BARTLET
You have a best friend?

ROGER
Yes, sir.

BARTLET
Is he smarter than you?

ROGER
Yes, sir.

BARTLET
Would you trust him with your life?

ROGER
Yes, sir.

BARTLET
That's your chief of staff.

Leo, obvioiusly touched, stops for a minute and walks away.

Back in THE OVAL OFFICE, Charlie walks in. Bartlet continues to speak.

CHARLIEMr. President?

BARTLETI got to go.
[beat]
You'll do fine.
People have phenomenal capacity.

ROGERYes, sir.

Bartlet holds his book and puts his fist against his chest close to the heart.
Tribby stands watch as the President and Charlie leave.
After they've gone, Tribby is standing in front of the Presidential seal and looks around the Oval Office in awe.

Involvement

"...that idea of The Far-Off Man, way, way out there, but

What does The Hermit tell us...?

Romana has broken The Cardinal Rule of Gallifrey.

She has become involved
and in a pretty permanent sort of way.

The lonelier you are, the more you're joined together with
 everything else. "

(They sit on a small stone bench.)
DOCTOR:
Have you seen the state of the time column recently?
Wheezing like a grampus.

ADRIC:
But it will get us to Gallifrey, won't it?

DOCTOR:

Gallifrey? Oh yes, yes.
Are you really set on going to Gallifrey?

ADRIC:
Yes.

DOCTOR:

Oh.

ADRIC:

That is where we're going, isn't it?

DOCTOR:
That's one of the questions I was just pondering.
There's bound to be an awful lot of fuss about Romana.
Why she stayed in E-space, official investigations, that sort of thing.

ADRIC:
The Time Lords won't approve?

DOCTOR:
What? She has broken The Cardinal Rule of Gallifrey.
She has become involved
and in a pretty permanent sort of way.

I think that you and I should let a few oceans flow under a few bridges before we head back home.

"...that idea of The Far-Off Man, way, way out there,  but

What does The Hermit tell us...?

If you try this get as lonely as you can get,

you become visibly aware which you can't get away from it,
because when you get very lonely very fast you become extremely thin
and
everything that goes on is or now ordinarily unnoticed cum spiritum

First of all, you will find that there is a  Community of Insects.
And they are tremendously interested in You, and not necessarily hostile, in maybe some cases they are so.

But alone in The Forest, when you get really quiet, you'll notice little creatures will come and inspect you look you all over an
they'll go away and tell their friends and they'll come and look to see what it is and you become aware of every single sound and you realize that alone you're in the midst of a vast burning crowd
it may not be human but it's everything else -
so that the the point of being, The Discipline leads you to understand that
You can't Resign

The lonelier you are, the more you're joined together with everything else. "

" Look at it - from another point of view, supposing I say everybody's playing the game Me First  - now, I'm going to play the game You Firstto use the phrase of Bonhoeffer who called Jesus The Man for Others - now, let's see if we could play that game instead of
Me First

You First
Or,

"I'm the one see who's so generous I'm the one who's so loving so self-effacing and all you insolent brats ...."
