JW's believe that "The World", and "worldliness" is distracting people from God, meaning "The Truth" and being influenced and corrupted by living too much in The World will keep you from knowing Truth, and achieving perfection and only those who are "perfect" will survive Judgement Day and earn a place on Paradise Earth, where they will live forever and never die.

So a complete retreat from "The World" into his Kingdom Hall with Larry Graham and all of his friends and neighbours is not an inconceivable or unreasonable life decision - especially since he owns the entire tract land on which the private, gated community he currently lives in is built.

They have their own little David Koresh compound to sit out the End of the World over there.

The Annihilation of the Body of Christ
