Mayor Rahm Emanuel : Architect of 9/11

Starwhackers Patrol, please note:
Here, again, we see that Peter Jackson is an incredibly clever and perceptive man, who knows (like Marlon Brando, Michael Jackson, Dave Chapelle, Randy Quaid and so many others) exactly how Hollywood works - and dodges a massive bullet.

The obvious, conscious decision to portray Wormtongue is the most pale, pasty, creepy Anglo vision of vile treachery spared him all hell to pay later....

Possibly sensing this, someone gave Whoppi Goldberg the idea to  bitch onstage at the Oscars that year regarding the lack of diversity onscreen in Lord of The Rings.... Which are, after all, based directly on Anglo-Saxon and pre-Norman British folklore tails, a attempt, consciously, to create a British mythology, a story for all the folk history of people and place, along with its own creation narrative, which it uniquely, it has never had.

Oh, really ? Do you not remember the hell George Lucas took over his gay, Jamacian fish Rasta man, or his cowardly Asian aliens (whose characters were named Lott and Dodd and sat in the Galactic Senate, purposely f**king it up with proceedural log-jamming and corrupt filibusters, incidentally....)

Can you imagine if Brad Dourif's nose had been just half an inch more prominent...?

Diversity is a gift, especially in Hollywood, where audience share and connecting to the wider world as viscerally as possible (and drive up the grosses) is everything.

It's a gift : and as the Late Brother Steve Cokely teaches us :

"You gotta realise - sometimes, when we are being given something, we are being attacked"

Do the three Black Haitians still living in West Harlem really want to see a Black Aragorn, swing his (extra longj) broadsword around...?

Honestly, I don't think that they do. Nor will the presence of a Brotherman in the film make them all three put down their $15 to go and see the movie and tell all their friends.

Or, make them so much as give a fuck.

But that's not what they will tell you in Hollyood

"The second lesson I want to share with you is about learning from your failures.

I’ve been fortunate to have found success in my life and I know most of you will be successful as well, because you have the love of your parents and a college education from a great university. But that success will depend on what you do when you fail, because you will fail along the way. We all do.

1992 was a good year, as the President noted. I joined Bill Clinton’s long-shot presidential race as finance director. He was talking about hope, he wasn’t from Washington, and no one thought he could win.

It sounded so familiar.

We raised a lot of money that helped us spread our message and win a great victory.

Soon afterward, I was named political director in the White House. I was on top of the world, and in a pretty good job for someone just several years out of college.

But the truth is, it may have gone to my head a little bit, and I think you can strike the word “may.”

I probably shot off my mouth a few too many times and I problem picked up a few too many fights, and before I knew it my dream job was hanging by a threat. I was demoted.

It felt terrible, and here I was, thinking that I had messed up the biggest opportunity of my life.

But I didn’t give up. I didn’t quit.

I dug in and I dug deep. I refused to leave.

But I did try to act with a little less bravado and a lot more humility.

I threw myself into the efforts to pass the assault weapon ban, NAFTA, welfare reform, the crime bill, and while doing my best to prove that I could work well with others.

And by the way, that’s a work in progress sometimes.

“But that’s the second lesson in life: Learn humility and wisdom when you stumble, because it will help you when you succeed.

Being forced to come back from that failure is why I’m standing here today.

You will have failures in your life, but it is what you do during those valleys that will determine the heights of your peaks.”

Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, earned more than $18 million in just two and a half years when he left Bill Clinton’s White House, where he was an aide, to join big time Democratic donor and Wall Street dealmaker Bruce Wasserstein’s investment banking boutique, Wasserstein Perella & Company, as a consultant.

He also benefited from the sale of Wasserstein Perella to a German bank, which provided him with an unusually large payout, The New York Times reports.

Not only did the dalliance with banking make Emanuel rich, it provided him with strong ties to the banking sector at a time when the new Obama administration is planning a sweeping regulatory overhaul of Wall Street.

Emanuel says his links with bankers will not lead to special favors. “I would say I’ve been as tough on my friends as others,” he said.

“I call it like I see it.”

Both Paul Finney and Steve Cokely's research by 1993 had identified Rahm Emmanuel in Chicago as the leader of ADL attacks to remove and neutralise SPECIFICALLY BLACK elected officials representing Chicago and Illinois, as an existential threat to the State of Israel.

By 1993, Rahm Emmanuel was the Chief Mossad Agent operating under plain cover in the United States.

The same year he became Clinton's chief political advisor.

Rahm Emmanuel RAN the 2000 strong pre- 9/11 Mossad spy ring which compromised every facet of US Defence and Intelligence.

The 5 Dancing Israelis reported into, and ultimately, were sent by him, to film the event, flicking lighters in front of the burning towers for the camera.

Numerous White House correspondents, from Richard Woolfe to Bob Woodward confirm: at the height of the CIA Drone campaign in Yemen during late 2009, Emmanuel would religiously and gleefully telephone then-Director of Central Intelligence Panetta each morning at 9am sharp and ask, With a beaming smile each morning: "So, who've we killed today ?"

Paul Findley was Rahm Emmanuel's political blooding - in 1984, Rahm led the attack that resulted in Paul Findley being thrown out of office for meeting with the PLO.

Findley and Strauss

November 3, 1980
WASHINGTON (Nov. 2)

Rep. Paul Findley (R.III.), fighting for reelection against Democratic challenger David Robinson, has declared President Carter’s campaign chairman, Robert Strauss, gave him “full backing” on his contacts with Palestine Liberation Organization Chief Yasir Arafat and espousal of U.S. negotiation with the terrorist organization.
In Los Angeles, Strauss reportedly disavowed Findley’s statement and in Washington an aide to Strauss said Strauss “in no way encouraged” Findley in his PLO affairs. The report was first published in the Los Angeles Times, Oct. 19 which said in a dispatch from Springfield, III., by its reporter, Paul Houston, that Findley was in a tough battle because of his PLO contacts.

“Counter-attacking on the issue for the first time, ” the dispatch said, “he contended that his two meetings with Arafat and his correspondence with the PLO leader have the full backing of a rather prominent Jewish Democrat — Robert Strauss….”
“Findley said that in his contacts with Arafat, he conferred frequently with Strauss about what details were discussed and had received hand-written notes from Strauss that ‘recognized the importance and value of correct communication with Arafat.’”

Houston’s dispatch noted that official Administration policy is that the U.S. will not deal with the PLO until it accepts United Nations Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338 and Israel’s right to exist. “Nevertheless, recently at the U.S. Capital, he (Findley) got another endorsement on his contacts with Arafat from Strauss,” Houston reported.
The Los Angeles Times’ bureau in Washington told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that it had no record of a response from Strauss either here or in Los Angeles. The JTA made repeated efforts here to contact Strauss but he is immersed in details in the last days of the election campaign and therefore not available for comment. But the JTA was informed that Philip Blazer, publisher of Israel Today in Los Angeles, said Strauss had totally disavowed Findley’s charges.

At the Carter-Mondale Campaign Committee’s offices here, a spokesperson told the JTA that she was informed Strauss had said Findley should be ashamed of himself and the story was not worth commenting on.

A few short months, later: "I couldn't agree with you more, Mitt!"

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington for talks with the U.S. President Obama on regional peace and security.

"On behalf of the President I am happy to extend an invitation to  visit President Obama in the White House for a working meeting to discuss our shared security interests, as well as our close co-operation in achieving peace between Israel and its neighbors," Emanuel told Netanyahu at the prime minister's Jerusalem office.

Israeli sources said that Obama's snap decision to invite Netanyahu to Washington was an attempt to obliterate the memory of the two leaders' previous White House meeting in March, when reporters were barred and the White House did not release a joint photograph. The apparent contrast with Obama's warm and well-publicized meetings with Arab leaders in Washington was viewed in Israel as a deliberate snub.

The March meeting revealed serious differences of opinion between the two men, especially over Jewish construction in East Jerusalem. Netanyahu also failed to satisfy the U.S. with his answers to Obama's questions on final-status positions in the event of a peace deal with the Palestinians.

Israeli officials expect the upcoming meeting will include a photograph of the two leaders in the Oval Office and perhaps even a joint press conference.

The officials said Obama was keen to meet Netanyahu before Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas arrives in Washington in a few weeks. Israel thinks the White House will use the photo opportunity to forestall claims from Jewish groups and from within the Congress that Obama has shown a pro-Palestinian bias, they said.

Netanyahu's visit to Washington will be tacked on to the end of Netanyahu's previously scheduled trip to Canada. The prime minister will on Thursday fly to Paris for a meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which Israel was recently invited to join.

On Friday, he will arrive in Toronto for meetings with the local Jewish community and will observe the annual Walk With Israel parade on Sunday before flying to Ottawa, the Canadian capital, for a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Monday. He will then head to the United States.

In recent weeks, the White House has made great efforts to counter criticism of it stance aginst Israel. Last week, Obama met with Jewish congressmen to stress his commitment to Israel's security, while two key aides - Dennis Ross and Dan Shapiro - held similar talks with Jewish leaders. To show his commitment to Israel's security, Obama also approved additional funding for Israel's Iron Dome rocket defense system.

On Monday, Obama's special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, used two speeches in Washington to praise Netanyahu for his efforts to advance the peace process, such as the declaration of a 10-month freeze on construction in the settlements and the removal of some checkpoints in the West Bank.

Mitchell also said he believed Netanyahu capable of reaching a peace agreement with the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu on Tuesday made his first public comment on the nuclear fuel deal that Iran struck with Turkey and Brazil earlier this month, under which Iran would send some of its low-enriched uranium abroad in return for reactor fuel.

"This is a transparent Iranian exercise in deceit, whose purpose is to divert international public opinion from Security Council sanctions against Iran," he told the Knesset. "This is an empty offer, because Iran would retain enough uranium to produce a nuclear weapon."

However, he praised the Obama administration for its efforts to get the Security Council to pass a new sanctions resolution against Iran.

"They were wearing wingsuits, special jumpsuits that increase the body’s surface area, allowing the wearer to soar through the air at very high speeds before using a parachute to land.

Footage from cameras fixed to Mr Uragallo’s suit is believed to show Mr Sutton leaving the helicopter before veering off course. The moment of impact was not filmed.

An emergency helicopter arrived within minutes but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Uragallo, who runs a company that makes wingsuits, broke the news by telephone to Mr Sutton’s girlfriend, Victoria Homewood, who was in Chamonix, half an hour’s drive over the border in France.

Mr Sutton was one of 20 of the world’s top wingsuit “pilots” invited to take part in the three-day non-competitive event in Switzerland and France.

Mr Uragallo was too upset to take part yesterday, but the other participants decided to go ahead in Mr Sutton’s honour.

A spokesman for Epic TV said: “Wingsuiting is an extreme sport and there are risks, just as there are with extreme skiing or Formula 1 racing. Accidents happen.”

Officers in the Swiss canton of Valais said Mr Sutton had “no chance of survival” and stressed that his death was being treated as an accident.

Jean-Marie Bornet, a police spokesman, said the weather was good at the time, but added that there was very little margin for error with wing-diving. An experienced wingsuit instructor quashed speculation that the British stuntman could have been “showing off”, saying that he was known for being “very safe, responsible and very calculated” and did not make stupid decisions.

Mr Sutton was an officer with the Royal Gurkha Rifles from 1991 to 1995 before moving into finance. At the time of his death he was working as a consultant for RBS.

There has been more written about Francis Bacon's life from the age of sixteen, when he left England and travelled to the continent during the late 1570's meeting up with the leading thinkers of the cultural revolution in France, than his other formative years and the elders who also shaped his mind.

Alfred Dodd in his book Francis Bacon's Personal Life -Storyquotes Bacon's biographer and chaplain, Dr.Rawley, "I shall not tread too near upon the heels of truth", letting us know that this biography of Bacon would not be too exact in it's details. Dodd's book speculates that Queen Elizabeth secretly supervised the education of young Francis. There are only brief accounts of his early days at York House and Gorhambury with his adoptive parents Sir Nicholas and Lady Anne Bacon.

The Earl of Leicester, Robert Dudley (the Queen's favorite), was the first man, according to Dodd to license a band of players for dramatic purposes. Without a license, acting was illegal in Elizabeth's England. It was through Leicester's sphere of influence, that a young Francis Bacon had developed interest in drama and the theater while getting the opportunity to know James Burbage, the first man to build a theater in England. Bacon would also get to meet in the Court circles the man who had tutored Leicester and advised Elizabeth on matters of state -the man whom Ian Fleming modeled his 007 James Bond character on, the first and perhaps the best secret agent of the crown, Dr.John Dee.

John Dee(1527-1608) was a fascinating genius, considered a magus, philosopher and alchemist who captured the attention of the royal courts and best minds throughout Europe. You were either intimidated by his ideas and reputation or you wished to be influenced by them. It has only been in the last century that we've had a more sober approach to Dee, thanks to such authors as Peter French, Francis Yates, Gerald Shuster and Richard Deacon who have rescued this "man of grand design" from obscurity and have realized how significant a thinker he was.

Dr. Dee's learning was far and wide, a brilliant mathematician, whose study ranged from geo-cartography and calculus which was vital in navigating the New World for explorers, to astrology, alchemy, the Cabala, cypher writing, religion, architecture, and science. In short, Dee's metaphysics were a 'red' cross of the Hermetic tradition with a strong dose of mathematics. His library at the riverside village of Mortlake was considered the finest private collection in Europe containing thousands of bound books and handwritten manuscripts devoted to philosophy, science and esoterica. In comparison the University of Cambridge at the time had a mere 451 total books and manuscripts in their possession.

Noel Fermor in the journal Baconiana wrote that, "The Earl of Leicester's father, the Duke of Northmberland, employed Dee as a tutor to his children so that they would have a sound scientific upbringing. Northumberland became a notable scientist with a strong leaning toward mathematics and magnetism. Anthony Wood in his Athenae Oxoniensis, wrote "that no one knew Robert Dudley better than Dee." So it was quite natural for Leicester to introduce Dee to Elizabeth as she was to become the new Queen and it wasn't long before Dee advanced to become the court astrologer.

(Leicester signed his letters to Elizabeth with two circles containing dots symbolising he was her "Eyes")

Elizabeth was very much interested in the occult. Dee was responsible for choosing the most auspicious date for Elizabeth's coronation which was on January 15th, 1559. The Queen was so impressed by Dee that she eventually travelled with her court to Mortlake, for the purpose of seeing his great library.

Dee has been defamed through the centuries as a necromancer, but it's the opinion of many writers that his angelic-cabalistic- alchemical work, his Philosophers Stone, the"Monad Hieroglyphica"(1564) may have been a cover for covert operations carried on in the name of her majesty. The 007 was the insignia number that Elizabeth was to use for private communiques between her Court and Dee.

Dee signed his letters with two circles symbolising his own two eyes and indicating that he was the secret eyes of the Queen. The two circles are guarded by what may be considered a square root sign or an elongated seven. For Dee, seven was a sacred cabbalistic and lucky number.(Richard Deacon)

When the Spanish Armada loomed over the English Channel it was Dee as the wise sage who suggested to hold the course and be still. He had correctly anticipated that devastating storms would destroy the mighty Spanish Fleet and that it would be best to keep the English ships at bay. Some have suggested that it was Dee himself who conjured up that storm. Whatever it was that allowed England to defeat the Armada, John Dee was having his finest patriotic moment. One can see why some commentators have Dee associated with being the inspiration for the protagonist Prospero (to hope for the future) from The Tempest. Francis Yates in her seminal exploration Majesty and Magic in Shakespeare's Last Plays, comments, "Dare one say that the German Rosicrucian movement reaches a peak of poetic expression in The Tempest, a Rosicrucian manifesto infused with the spirit of Dee, using theatrical parables for esoteric communication?"

Dee's wisdom of nature even extended into the field of architecture where Francis Yates in The Theatre of the World states that James Burbage consulted Dee on the design of the first theater, which was built in veneer stone. Later,"The Globe was created, says Yates, because in the Burbage tradition the design was to amplify naturally the voices of the plyers." This was accomplished by the geometrical resonance of the circled dome. Burbage relied on Dee's extensive architectural library for this construction.

Little has come down to us in terms of records of Francis Bacon and John Dee knowing each other but on the afternoon of August 11, 1582 there was an entry in Dee's journal that they met at Mortlake. Bacon was 21 years old at the time and was accompanied by a Mr. Phillipes, a top cryptographer in the employ of Sir Francis Walsingham who headed up the early days of England's secret service. They were there according to Ewen MacDuff, in an article, "After Some Time Be Past" in 'Baconiana', (Dec.1983)" to find out the truth about the ancient Hebrew art of the Gematria- one of the oldest cipher systems known, dating from 700 B.C. They were seeking to discuss this with Dee because he was not only one of the leading adepts of this field, but a regular practitioner in certain levels of Gematria." Also, David Kahn in The Codebreakerssuggests that because of Dee's great interest in the 13th century alchemist Roger Bacon, that he may have introduced Bacon to the works of Roger Bacon,"which may help explain the similarities in their thought."

The Precarious Politics of Hermetic Tradition in the King James Reign

There is no doubt of John Dee's ubiquitous influence during the Elizabethan age. When James became King, Dee's ideas on magicwere no longer appreciated. James unfavorable and fearful attitude toward the occult was the opposite of Elizabeth's. Bacon became well aware that it was necessary to be very careful while advancing his scientific ideas to James and that any trace of Dee's weird angelic-alchemical study could jeopardize his own projects from taking hold. Bacon's observation of the mis-treatment bestowed upon Dee by James served to reinforce that it was a different era and that the need to practice that Shakespeare maxim, "Discretion is the better part of valor" was imperative to anyone with a sweet disposition toward magic and mathematics or a secret society. Dee was even derided in the Ben Jonson play The Alchemist perhaps to placate James, yet another signal that this was an end of the liberal Elizabethan attitude toward Hermeticism. So it's not surprising that Bacon chose to hold back his Rosicrucian utopia The New Atlantisfrom publication until after his death as it portrayed a future world in which man could co-exist with his fellow man without the divine right of kings and the new tools that the magic of science would one day bring could also be in harmony with nature as well. But it was Dee's colonization dream many years before who referred to the new world as "Atlantis." He would have been proud to have read Bacon's New Atlantis and seen Bacon's sympathetic portrayal of him as the magician Prospero, of The Tempest. <A masters degree in history online digs deeper into King James' Reign. "

Francis Yates in The Rosicrucian Enlightenment suggests that," in Bacon's writings there is nowhere to be found any mention of Dee or his famous Monas Hierglyphica. Yates makes a further point by saying that, "It is a well known objection to Bacon's claim to be an important figure in the history of science that he did not place sufficient emphasis on the all-important mathematical sciences in his programme for the advancement of learning, and that he ignored these sciences by his rejection of the Copernican theory and of William Gilbert's theory of the magnet. Bacon's avoidance of mathematics and Copernican theory might have been because he regarded mathematics as too closely associated with Dee and his 'conjuring' and Copernicus as to closely associated with Bruno and his extreme Egyptian and magical religion. This hypothesis is now worth recalling because it suggests a possible reason for a major difference between German Rosicrucianism and Baconianism. In the former Dee and his mathematics are not feared, but Bacon avoids them; in the former Bruno is an influence but is rejected by Bacon. In both cases Bacon may have been evading what seemed to him dangerous subjects in order to protect his projects from witch hunters, from the cry of 'sorcery' which as Naude' said, "could pursue a mathematician in the early 17th century."

It should be remembered that Bacon had a cautious and scientific approach to mathematics along with his great interest in cyphers.

Peter Dawkins in his book "Francis Bacon Herald of the New Age"would strongly disagree with Yates on Bacon's avoidance of mathematics. He writes, "nothing could be further from the truth: for number is a cypher and geometry a symbol for truth, and Francis Bacon was intensely interested in and a master of cipher and symbol, and of rhythm in language, using them repeatedly throughout all his works in various cryptic ways--for he saw mathematics as a vitally important occult or mystical science, and used it accordingly. Mathematics coupled with analogy and allegory, constitute a principal means to the discovery of what Bacon has enticingly hidden." Dawkins later emphasizes that, "Francis Bacon considered mathematics to be a branch of metaphysics, capable of giving insights into the highest 'Forms' or archetypes--the laws and intelligences of the universe. Consequently, like Dr. John Dee, his early tutor, he was fascinated by mathematical cypher in both its numeric and geometric forms, and with its magical use. Bacon gives both mathematics and analogy which he considers a science and calls "grammatical philosophy," a high place in his Great Instauration; which, when used together help to unlock the doors to that which Bacon has deliberately concealed-- including certain mysteries hidden in the Shakespeare plays. For instance, the two great books published in 1623 were the Shakespeare's Folio Comedies, Histories & Tragedies and Bacon'sDe Augmentis Scientiarum{the philosophical background and purpose of the Shakespeare plays} two masterpieces published together, since they are as twins, each being a key to unlock hidden treasures in the other-- two relating to the twin faculties of the mind--imagination and reason--and both drawing upon the third faculty, memory." It should be noted that the following year 1624 the cypher book, Cryptomenytices was published and Dawkins points to this as "providing the cipher keys to open the 'crypt' of Rosicrucian wisdom hidden in both the philosophical and the poetical works of art of this great Master."

Yates admits to being a Stratfordian and of course does not realize the extent of Bacon's wisdom in protecting himself from censorship. She says, "We begin to understand that The Tempest was a very bold manifesto, and that Shakespeare was braver than Bacon."

If Yates could only glimpse how ahead of the game Bacon was she could only burst out and laugh at herself for writing this. But she is not the first modern day Shakespeare critic to underestimate Francis Bacon's foresight to write under a mighty pen-name and steer his Secret Free-Masonry-Group at the same time. It's like asking was Twain braver than Clemens? The absurd logic of this could be solved if Stratfordians applied the Baconian method (inductive logic with trial and error) into the Shakespeare Authorship. Go one step further using this method of inquiry to cross reference a lost connection missing between the Rosicrucian literature of The Fama and the ConfessioThe Chemical Marriage of Christian RosenkrantzThe New AtlantisThe Tempest, with The King James Version of the BibleThe Advancement of Learning and Dee'sMonad Hieroglyphic. Somewhere there lies a common thread, a code, meant for those who would cross reference all these words. Perhaps when the code is broken we will have the equivalent of Prospero's buried staff and recognize the impact of Dee and Bacon's relationship with their dedication to the enlightenment of all.

What Bacon learned from Dee outside of the importance of cyphers was not to have one's political and esoteric-artistic identity defined exclusively by the outside world. There was inner power for Bacon that no matter what happened to him he could still sacrifice his name, bury his staff like Prospero and wield a protective persona to express his artistic views for himself and his secret group of "Good Pens." This is responsible wisdom in action as a response to difficult political pressures. For Bacon due to the out of the ordinary set of circumstances surrounding his birth this pressure became a discipline for him (all his life) to maintain and remember that old saying, "keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Bacon knew from first hand experience when he said, as Shakespeare, "sweet are the uses of adversity."

Manly P. Hall had a book, Orders of Universal Reformation in which a woodcut from 1655 by Jacob Cats, shows an emblem of an ancient man bearing likeness to John Dee, passing the lamp of tradition over an open grave to a young man with an extravagantly large rose on his shoe buckle. In Bacon's sixth book of theAdvancement of Learning he defines his method as, Traditionem Lampadis, the delivery of the lamp.

Mrs. Henry Pott writes in "Francis Bacon and His Secret Society,"The organization or method of transmission he (Bacon) established was such as to ensure that never again so long as the world endured, should the lamp of tradition, the light of truth, be darkened or extinguished."

In closing a comment from Noel Fermor from

Baconiana 1981 "After all, in John Dee we have a man who had a profound influence on Renaissance thought and on the deep laid schemes of Francis Bacon for the betterment of mankind. Dee wrote, "Farewell, diligent reader; in reading these things, invocate the spirit of Eternal Light, speak little, meditate much and judge aright."

...he will have to defend himself."

WASHINGTON – The end of the Jackson family political dynasty arrived Wednesday as a Chicago power couple ready-made for the cameras learned the next few years of their lives will be spent taking turns in prison.
Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., the civil rights leader's son who once dreamed of becoming mayor or senator, and his wife, former 7th Ward Ald. Sandi Jackson, were tripped up by a taste for luxury that was bankrolled with $750,000 from campaign funds.
On their day of reckoning, the Jacksons brought up a host of personal struggles in an effort to inspire sympathy: his reported mental illness, her series of miscarriages, the plight of their two children if they lost their mother to prison.
In the end, the former congressman got 30 months in federal prison and could end up serving about five months less if he behaves behind bars. The former alderman got a year and stands to serve it all.
Jackson Jr. was given until at least Nov. 1 to begin his prison term.
Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson said supporters of the former congressman — including his own father — had urged her in letters to put him on probation. If she were to do so, she said, it would appear as if there were two systems of justice, "one for the well-connected and one for everybody else."
"I cannot do it," she intoned. "And I will not do it."
She shot down the notion, brought up by the defense, that elected officials once considered campaign accounts to be retirement funds.
While acknowledging the good the Jacksons had done in office, she lambasted Jackson Jr.'s misdeeds as "knowing, organized, joint misconduct repeated and then covered up."
She said Sandi Jackson was not a spouse who passively received the ill-gotten gains of crimes but one who knowingly spent thousands illegally on her personal whims. The judge noted that Sandi Jackson had served variously as campaign treasurer, campaign manager and consultant for the congressman.
"You were a key player in the Jesse Jackson campaign. Together, you were the campaign," the judge told Sandi Jackson.
"You are standing here to be sentenced because of your own significant and illegal conduct," the judge said.
The Jacksons' sentences were lighter than prosecutors had recommended. They wanted four years for him and 18 months for her. Defense lawyers wanted him to serve 18 months.
Sandi Jackson's lawyers did not get the probation they had sought for her, but they did get an order from the judge allowing her to remain free until her husband finishes serving his time.
In another break, Jackson Jr. won't have to return $750,000 to his campaign fund, but must pay a $750,000 forfeiture as agreed when he pleaded guilty in February.
Additionally, her plea deal called for her to pay $168,550, representing unpaid taxes, but the judge ordered her to pay only $22,000 in restitution. The sum represents money she misused from her own political accounts.
The Jacksons cried as they addressed the judge separately before sentencing.
"I didn't separate my personal life from my political activities, and I couldn't have been more wrong," said Jackson Jr., who paused to dry his eyes and blow his nose.
Jackson Jr. apologized for his crimes and expressed regrets to his mother and father.
"Your honor, throughout this process I've asked the government and the court to hold me and only me accountable for my actions," he said.
He said he hoped that his wife could earn enough money in his absence to keep the family together. "When I get back, I'll take on that burden," he said. "By then I hope my children will be old enough that the pain I caused will be easier to bear."
Sandi Jackson addressed the court after her husband. "I am a little nervous," she told the judge, "so I have a written statement that I would like to read to you."
She continued: "I want to begin by apologizing first to my family, to my friends, my community and my constituents for the actions that brought me here today."
She said she had caused "disappointment in my community" and had "put my family unit in peril."
"My heart breaks every day with the pain this has caused my babies," she continued, weeping. "I ask to be parent, provider and support system that my babies will require in the difficult months ahead."
Their children — a girl, 13, and a boy, 9 — were not in court.
When the former alderman lost her bid for freedom, defense attorney Dan Webb said she wished to serve her term in a correctional institution in Marianna, Fla. The minimum-security facility is a prison camp about 65 miles northwest of Tallahassee.
As for Jackson Jr., the judge said she would recommend he be placed in a federal prison camp in Alabama — he had stated that his first choice was one in Montgomery — or a prison in Butner, N.C. But the Bureau of Prisons will make the final call.
Earlier in the hearing, Jackson Jr.'s lawyer, Reid Weingarten, said his client felt "horror, shame and distress" over his wrongs.
But Weingarten also tried to downplay Jackson Jr.'s actions since he took money from his own campaign fund. It's not as if there are widows and orphans outside the courthouse who are victims and asking for his head, Weingarten said.
"This is not Madoff. This is not a Ponzi scheme," the lawyer said. Bernard Madoff, now imprisoned in the Butner facility, is a financier whose Ponzi scheme led investors to lose their fortunes.
Weingarten said Jackson Jr. "suffers from a very, very serious mental health disease." He identified the former congressman's illness as bipolar disorder and said it was relevant even though "we didn't plead guilty by reason of insanity."
Matt Graves, an assistant U.S. attorney, countered that Jackson Jr.'s crimes represented one of the largest cases of theft from a campaign treasury ever prosecuted.
Graves took a shot at Jackson Jr.'s reported bipolar disorder, saying when mental health issues are litigated in court, usually there is expert testimony, discovery and an examination of the defendant — and that none had occurred in the case.
"When one looks at the facts," Graves said, "it's quite clear that there's no there there."
He decried Jackson Jr.'s "wasted talent" and "what he threw away."
Graves said Sandi Jackson's crimes were serious and had occurred over many years. He noted that defendants with children were given prison terms in courts across the country.
The judge also ordered the Jacksons to serve supervised release after their prison terms: three years for him, one for her. She said he also must perform 500 hours of community service and she must perform 200 hours. But the service may not be political work nor done at a charity run by a relative, the judge said.
Jackson Jr., 48, pleaded guilty to a felony conspiracy count. Sandi Jackson, 49, his co-conspirator, pleaded guilty to a separate count of failing to report about $600,000 in income on tax returns.
The hearing Wednesday took 41/2 hours. When the Jacksons arrived at the courthouse Wednesday morning and emerged from a white Toyota Sequoia SUV, they held hands. With them was Judy Smith, a crisis communications expert and former federal prosecutor whose work inspired the TV show "Scandal."
Jackson Jr., wearing a dark suit, white shirt and blue tie, grimaced. Sandi Jackson, in a beige ensemble, smiled broadly.
The former congressman's father, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, had arrived earlier with his wife and his other children. Speaking with reporters, he reflected on his son's bipolar disorder. "I don't know how I missed so many signs," he said. "We found out he was sick very late. We thought we almost lost him. He was in a different place altogether."
"He was very sick," the father added. "People speculating, 'Is he faking it?' No, he's not."
The Jacksons, both Democrats, pleaded guilty after an illegal spending spree that included a $43,000 men's Rolex watch, furs and cashmere, vacations, two mounted elk heads and memorabilia ranging from a Michael Jackson fedora to an Eddie Van Halen guitar.
The first clear sign that Jackson Jr. was in serious trouble came in June 2012 when he began a mysterious medical leave of absence from Congress. His office initially said he was suffering from exhaustion, but his lawyers later said he was being treated for severe depression and bipolar disorder.
He never returned to work, and reports that he was under investigation soon followed. But he won re-election in November without campaigning. Jackson Jr., who entered Congress in 1995, resigned a few weeks after the election victory.
Sandi Jackson was on the Chicago City Council from 2007 until January, when she resigned.
As the once-promising couple left the courthouse Wednesday, Jackson Jr. tried to have the last word.
"I still believe in the power of forgiveness," he said. "I believe in the power of redemption. Today I manned up and tried to accept responsibility for the errors of my ways. And I still believe in the resurrection."
But a heckler got in a final jab.
Jacques Chevalier, 58, of Washington, who described himself as a landlord, said he had watched the hearings from an overflow room for spectators.
"Please leave D.C.," he shouted at the Jacksons. "We don't need your kind here no more. And this is a black man speaking."

The speech "talking down to black people" by emphasising Faith Based Initiatives occurred in a series of speeches delivered in Chicago Churches.

And Jesse Jackson's own political career (such as it is) is leveraged on his status as a Baptist Minister.*

This was at a time when Jesse's son was Barack Obama's Deputy Campaign Manager.

Bill Pepper's a great lawyer - but in all the 18 years he worked non-stop on James Earl Ray's post-Conviction Defence, he was NEVER given access to the "Ray" Rifle or the bullet fragments - a ballistics analysis never became a realistic topic for discussion and was in any case irrelevant to establishing Ray's guilt - since he was a mile down the street, gassing up his White Mustang at 3 mins to Six, and in any case, the rifle seemed never to have been fired, and only once taken out if its carton.

But the bushes at the back of Jim's gril was ninethkess ninety less

ECHELON

Pilot's Eye view: Looking north west over GCHQ Bude (formerly CSOS Morwenstow)

ECHELON is the catch-all name used to refer to the signals intelligence (SIGINT) collection and analysis network operated on behalf of the five signatory states to the UK–USA Security Agreement (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, known as AUSCANZUKUS).

The system has been researched and reported on in a number of public sources. Its capabilities and political implications were investigated by a committee of the European Parliament during 2000 and 2001 with a report published in 2001, and by author James Bamford in his books on the National Security Agency of the United States.

European Parliament Inquiry

The European Parliament Inquiry was commissioned largely in response to allegations that Echelon was being used for personal, commercial and industrial espionage purposes to the advantage of participating state economies at the expense of other EU members. [3] The report agreed that, not only did the, code-named 'Echelon' exist, but that it was indeed being put to such uses. It's full title is:

"Report on the existence of a global system for the interception of private and commercial communications (ECHELON interception system) (2001/2098(INI))"

Paragraph 1 of it's conclusions reads:

That a global system for intercepting communications exists, operating by means of cooperation proportionate to their capabilities among the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand under the UKUSA Agreement, is no longer in doubt. It may be assumed, in view of the evidence and the consistent pattern of statements from a very wide range of individuals and organisations, including American sources, that the system or parts of it were, at least for some time, code-named ECHELON. What is important is that its purpose is to intercept private and commercial communications, and not military communications. Analysis has revealed that the technical capabilities of the system are probably not nearly as extensive as some sections of the media had assumed. Nevertheless, it is worrying that many senior Community figures, in particular European Commissioners, who gave evidence to the Temporary Committee, claimed to be unaware of this phenomenon.

Whilst questioning the technical sophistication and capabilities attributed to Echelon by sections of the mass media, it nevertheless concedes that, on the basis of information presented, ECHELON is capable of interception and content inspection of telephone calls, fax, e-mail and other data traffic globally through the interception of communication bearers including satellite transmission, public switched telephone networks and microwave links.

The report made a number of anodyne recommendations, with nods in the direction of the "legitimate interests of national intelligence services" and was very soon forgotten.

With the constant drumbeat of 'global security' concerns an the relentless propaganda of 'the war on terror' since its publication, it would be naive indeed to assume that, at the very minimum, Echelon's capabilities have not continued to increase at the pace of computing and communications technologies generally.

Likely satellite intercept stations

The following stations are listed in the EP report (p. 54 ff) as likely to have a role in intercepting transmissions from telecommunications satellites:

    Contras

    Oh! Mama, Mama look there!

Your children are playing in that street again
Don't you know what happened down there?
A youth of fourteen got shot down there.

The Kokane guns of Jamdown Town
The killing clowns, the blood money men
Are shooting those Washington bullets again

As every cell in Chile will tell
The cries of the tortured men
Remember Allende, and the days before,
    Before the army came
    Please remember Victor Jara,
    In the Santiago Stadium,
Es verdad - those Washington Bullets again

And in the Bay of Pigs in 1961,
Havana fought the playboy in the Cuban sun,
    For Castro is a colour,
    Is a redder than red,
Those Washington bullets want Castro dead
    For Castro is the colour...
...That will earn you a spray of lead

For the very first time ever,
When they had a revolution in Nicaragua,
There was no interference from America
    Human rights in America

Well the people fought the leader,
    And up he flew...
With no Washington bullets what else could he do?

'N' if you can find a Afghan rebel
    That the Moscow bullets missed
Ask him what he thinks of voting Communist...
...Ask the Dalai Lama in the hills of Tibet,
How many monks did the Chinese get?
In a war-torn swamp stop any mercenary,
'N' check the British bullets in his armoury
    Que?

    Sandinista!

    Salvador Allende

    Last Words to the Nation

This speech was delivered at 9:10 am on September 11, 1973, in the midst on an ultimately successful US-sponsored coup d'etat against the democratically-elected government. Barricaded inside La Moneda, the presidential palace, President Allende gave his life defending Chilean democracy.

    My friends,

Surely this will be the last opportunity for me to address you. The Air Force has bombed the towers of Radio Portales and Radio Corporación.

My words do not have bitterness but disappointment. May they be a moral punishment for those who have betrayed their oath: soldiers of Chile, titular commanders in chief, Admiral Merino, who has designated himself Commander of the Navy, and Mr. Mendoza, the despicable general who only yesterday pledged his fidelity and loyalty to the Government, and who also has appointed himself Chief of the Carabineros [national police].

Given these facts, the only thing left for me is to say to workers: I am not going to resign!

Placed in a historic transition, I will pay for loyalty to the people with my life. And I say to them that I am certain that the seed which we have planted in the good conscience of thousands and thousands of Chileans will not be shriveled forever.

They have strength and will be able to dominate us, but social processes can be arrested neither by crime nor force. History is ours, and people make history.

Workers of my country: I want to thank you for the loyalty that you always had, the confidence that you deposited in a man who was only an interpreter of great yearnings for justice, who gave his word that he would respect the Constitution and the law and did just that. At this definitive moment, the last moment when I can address you, I wish you to take advantage of the lesson: foreign capital, imperialism, together with the reaction, created the climate in which the Armed Forces broke their tradition, the tradition taught by General Schneider and reaffirmed by Commander Araya, victims of the same social sector which will today be in their homes hoping, with foreign assistance, to retake power to continue defending their profits and their privileges.

I address, above all, the modest woman of our land, the campesina who believed in us, the worker who labored more, the mother who knew our concern for children. I address professionals of Chile, patriotic professionals, those who days ago continued working against the sedition sponsored by professional associations, class-based associations that also defended the advantages which a capitalist society grants to a few.

I address the youth, those who sang and gave us their joy and their spirit of struggle. I address the man of Chile, the worker, the farmer, the intellectual, those who will be persecuted, because in our country fascism has been already present for many hours -- in terrorist attacks, blowing up the bridges, cutting the railroad tracks, destroying the oil and gas pipelines, in the face of the silence of those who had the obligation to protect them. They were committed. History will judge them.

Surely Radio Magallanes will be silenced, and the calm metal instrument of my voice will no longer reach you. It does not matter. You will continue hearing it. I will always be next to you. At least my memory will be that of a man of dignity who was loyal to [inaudible] the workers.

The people must defend themselves, but they must not sacrifice themselves. The people must not let themselves be destroyed or riddled with bullets, but they cannot be humiliated either.

Workers of my country, I have faith in Chile and its destiny. Other men will overcome this dark and bitter moment when treason seeks to prevail. Go forward knowing that, sooner rather than later, the great avenues will open again where free men will walk to build a better society.

Long live Chile! Long live the people! Long live the workers!

These are my last words, and I am certain that my sacrifice will not be in vain, I am certain that, at the very least, it will be a moral lesson that will punish felony, cowardice, and treason.

Santiago de Chile, 11 September 1973
