"Belgian-born Maurice Tempelsman has a long and bloody history in Africa. When Congo’s first Premier, Patrice Lumumba, pledged to return diamond wealth back to the newly independent Congo in the early 60’s, Tempelsman, who began with De Beers in the 1950’s, helped engineer the coup d’etat that consolidated the dictatorship of 29 year-old Colonel Mobutu, and the coup against Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah; diamonds were at stake in each.

    “I believe this was the beginning of what we now know of as conflict diamonds in the Congo,” says blood diamond expert and investigative journalist Janine Roberts, author of the book Glitter and Greed: The Secret World of the Diamond Cartel. “From then on diamonds would be extensively used to discreetly fund wars, coups, repression and dictatorships, in Africa.”

    Maurice Tempelsman is Chairman of the American Jewish Congress, a Zionist pressure group that claims it works closely with the Israeli military. SEC filings show that LKI directors are high-rolling Zionist lawyers and investment bankers: one director belongs to the law firm that once represented President Kennedy—another Tempelsman friend. LKI is also connected to the euphemistically named United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Tempelsman empire remains rock solid behind Leon Tempelsman & Sons, De Beers, and Lazare Kaplan International—supplier of Tiffany’s and Cartier’s diamonds.

He had known her for more than 30 years and had been her constant companion for more than a decade, sharing everything: the daily victories, big and small, the adventures and frustrations of her complex life, and then her final months of suffering. He walked with her in the park in her last days, steadying the frail body with his hand, and he was at the bedside Thursday night when she died.

Maurice Tempelsman always seemed to be there for Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. To the general public, which had rarely seen them together and had not even known his name until recent days, his central role in yesterday's ceremonies may have seemed astonishing.

But to those who knew them, it seemed unremarkable, perhaps even quite fitting, when he stood with her children at the funeral in New York and at the graveside at Arlington National Cemetery yesterday and bade a loving, poetic farewell to the woman he had never married.

"And now the journey is over, too short, alas, too short," he said in a personal commentary after reading a favorite poem, "Ithaka" by C. P. Cavafy, at the service at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church. "It was filled with adventure and wisdom, laughter and love, gallantry and grace. So farewell, farewell." Third Man in Her Life

Mr. Tempelsman, a 64-year-old financier who amassed a fortune as a diamond dealer and industrialist, was the third man in her life, friends said, but he has never been divorced from his wife of 45 years, Lily, the mother of his three grown children.

Born in Belgium in 1929 to a Yiddish-speaking, Orthodox Jewish family that fled to the United States in 1940 as war spread across Europe, he went to work for his father, a diamond broker, when he was 16. Early in his career, he established a lasting connection with the DeBeers diamond empire in South Africa.

Mr. Tempelsman met Mrs. Kennedy in the 1950's, when he arranged a meeting for then-Senator John F. Kennedy with South African diamond interests. After she was widowed a second time with the death of Aristotle Onassis in 1975, Mr. Tempelsman became her financial adviser. He is reported to have quadrupled her $26 million inheritance.

Beginning in the early 1980's, Mr. Tempelsman and Mrs. Onassis were seen together with increasing frequency at private dinner parties, consular affairs and other discreet occasions. The relationship was kept low-key; he once sought -- and got -- a retraction from a gossip columnist who said they would marry. He told friends that he was not free to marry because his wife, as an Orthodox Jew, would never grant him a divorce.

It was about 1982, acquaintances said, that he moved into Mrs. Onassis' 15-room apartment on Fifth Avenue and began assuming the host's role. It seemed to some an unlikely pairing. Unlike the dashing President Kennedy, Mr. Tempelsman was short, portly, baldish, and he was not a billionaire like Onassis.

But Rose Schreiber, a cousin of Mr. Tempelsman, described him as a charming, worldly but gentle man with other qualities that appealed to Mrs. Onassis: a sharp wit, a sensitive and unassuming manner, and a respect for scholarship and learning.

They spent their summers together at her oceanfront estate on Martha's Vineyard, passed weekends at her horse farm in New Jersey and sailed aboard his 70-foot yacht, the Relemar. Last summer, they entertained President and Mrs. Clinton aboard the yacht off Martha's Vineyard.

At home in New York, they entertained friends at quiet dinner parties and occasionally went to small restaurants on the East Side. They often conversed in French, discussing her work as an editor with Doubleday or fighting to preserve a landmark. Friends said they had often strolled in Central Park, looking for all the world like any older, devoted couple.

Since last winter, when her lymphatic cancer was diagnosed, he had been with her almost constantly. He was at her side when she died Thursday night, and he was there to greet every guest at an informal wake for family and friends Sunday.

He chose to read "Ithaka" at the funeral. A translation by Edmund Keeley and Philip Sherrard for "C. P. Cavafy/Collected Poems," (Princeton University Press, 1992), reads:

As you set out for Ithaka

 “Tempelsman’s role in the confluence of public policy and private profit as a middleman for the De Beers diamond cartel may have shaped every major U.S. covert action in Africa since the early 1950s. Declassified memos and cables between former U.S. presidents and State Department officials over the last four decades directly linked Tempelsman to the destabilization of Zaire/Congo, Sierra Leone, Angola, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Rwanda and Ghana.”

 For over 35 years Maurice and son Leon Tempelsman worked the diamond connection behind the repression of Mobutu Sese Seko and his Israeli-trained shock troops. Now, 47 years later, the Tempelsman empire remains rock solid behind three companies: Leon Tempelsman & Sons, De Beers, and Lazare Kaplan International; LKI supplies Tiffany’s and Cartier’s. A client of Adelai Stevenson’s law firm during the first Congo crises (1960-1970), Tempelsman later hired Lawrence Devlin, a CIA station chief responsible for covert operations in Katanga, to maintain the Mobutu diamond/cobalt connections into the late 1980’s.

 Tempelsman’s capacity to sway governments and leverage markets is unrivaled. In 2002, Tempelsman offered Namibia’s President Sam Nujoma an $80 million interest free “loan” to bridge Namibia's budgetary shortfall against future sales of Namibia’s gemstones.

 Namibia is the leading producer of offshore deep sea diamonds, through DeBeers and Diamond Fields, and South Africa second. Offshore diamond mining has expanded to Papua New Guinea and New Zealand waters, and global mining investors call it the “new gold rush,” but scientists compare deep-sea dredging to destroying an eco-system as complex as a tropical rain forest. Specialized deep-sea crawler vessels like DeBeers “The Peace in Africa” reflect the expertise of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Maurice Tempelsman is an honorary trustee and an honorary member of the corporation of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

 Tempelsman is the deep pockets of the Democratic party, a regular supporter of the campaigns of John Kerry (D); Ed Royce (R); Tom Daschle (D); Barack Obama (D); Maxine Waters (D); John Rockefeller (D); Richard Gephardt (D); Howard Wolpe (D); Patrick (D) and Edward Kennedy (D); and the 1988 win of George H.W. Bush. Tempelsman also exploited ties with Anthony Lake, Clinton’s National Security adviser, who intervened at the U.S. Export-Import Bank on Tempelsman’s behalf.

 Tempelsman contributed some $500,000 to Clinton for president, and he is backing Hillary (D). He traveled at Clinton’s side on the 1998 Presidential Africa tour—along with National Security Council staffer John Prendergast, now an International Crises Group “expert” and leading “Save Darfur!” cheerleader. The Clinton’s Botswana visit was not about an Okavango Delta wildlife reserve safari. Botswana’s President Mogae attended the 1999 Attracting Capital to Africa Summit in Houston (TX), organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), the “who’s who” of multinational corporations. CCA chairman Maurice Tempelsman organized the summit, where 10 African heads of state met with half of Clinton's Cabinet and 200 corporate representatives. Tempelsman and the CCA organized the U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Africa in 2001, featuring DRC President Joseph Kabila, coordinated with an Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) meeting involving President G. W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powel.

 Maurice Tempelsman was Jackie Onassis Kennedy’s lover and he reportedly courted Madeline Albright. Tempelsman is Chairman of the American Jewish Congress, a Zionist pressure group that claims it “works closely with the Israeli military.”  He sits on the boards of nationalist American think tanks that also seat Madeleine Albright. As Vice-Chairman of Lazare Kaplan International, Tempelsman’s annual base pay is $458,833, with a bonus of $80,000; as principal director/shareholder in Leon Tempelsman and Sons he gets a comparable amount again. SEC filings show that LKI directors are high-rolling Zionist lawyers and investment bankers: one director belongs to the law firm that represented President Kennedy—another Tempelsman friend. These are the basic facts, and the central question, that have plagued every researcher into the subject of German secret weapons research since the end of World War Two.

 How indeed could Germany have not obtained the atom bomb?

In an article for the June 29, 1945 issue of the Washington Post, a report that originated from 21st Army Group headquarters outlines the frightening discovery that awaited Allied military personnel who came to occupy Norway after the German forces there surrendered:

R.A.F. officers said today that the Germans had nearly completed preparations for bombing New York from a "colossal air field" near Oslo when the war ended.

"Forty giant bombers with a 7,000 mile range were found on this base - the largest Luftwaffe field I have ever seen,' one officer said.

"They were a new type bomber developed by Heinkel. They now are being dismantled for study. German ground crews said the planes were held in readiness for a mission to New York.

Chapter 5: STRANGE MAPS, STRANGE FLIGHTS, AND UNKNOWN CARGOES

The United States was in a unique position among all the powers involved in World War Two. For the last time in its history, it was able to undertake military operations on a global scale relatively free of the fear of enemy reprisal. Its cities and factories were beyond the reach of any known enemy bomber. Moreover, much of its industrial capacity was located in its interior, far from the northeastern Atlantic States or the Pacific coast. According to conventional wisdom that has been reiterated countless times in numerous standard histories of the war, there was absolutely nothing the United States had to fear from Nazi Germany with its "tactical mission-oriented Luftwaffe" or its puny navy. To this day, many Americans, even ones relatively familiar with the operational details of Word War Two, believe that Germany had no aircraft even capable of reaching the United States and returning to Europe, much less of carrying a heavy enough payload, or being available in sufficient numbers, to be of any military significance.

All that changes, however, if Germany had the atomic bomb and if she possessed aircraft capable of delivering one and of returning successfully to Europe. In that case, only one bomber need be used to strike a significant military and psychological blow against the United States. Was such an operation feasible? Did Germany have such aircraft at least capable of being modified to carry an atom bomb? Are there indications that such studies and operations were contemplated by the Nazis?

A. The Oberkommando der Luftwaffe's Unusual Map

In 1943 the Supreme Command of the Luftwaffe (Oberkommando der Luftwaffe) conducted a highly unusual study. The study consisted of a map, a map of lower Manhattan Island. On the map are concentric circles detailing the blast and heat damage- radii of an atomic bomb detonation over New York City. But the most unusual aspect of this "study" is that it shows the detonation of an atom bomb in the 15-17 kiloton range, approximately the same yield as the Little Boy uranium bomb dropped on Hiroshima, an odd "coincidence" in the series of "odd coincidences" we have- already encountered.

The Luftwaffe's intentions are quite obvious and clear. The destruction of the financial and business center of New York City would alone have been an unparalleled military and psychological blow against the American war effort. Beyond this, given the fact that New York City was an important point of embarkation for American shipping and troops, as well as a naval base, and a transportation hub for the entire American northeast, such a blow would have been incalculable.

For the Nazi leadership, such a blow would have made military and political sense. It would have demonstrated conclusively to the United States that Germany was capable of mounting significant military operations against the American mainland, and at levels of destructive capability that were militarily, economically, and psychologically devastating. From their point of view, such a blow would arguably been seen as weakening American resolve and perhaps, after a succession of similar such blows against prominent targets such as Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC or Norfolk, would conceivably have led to America's exit from the war, leaving Britain to follow not far behind. The war against the Soviet Union could then either have been prosecuted without mercy until the inevitable Soviet capitulation, or at the minimum, a negotiated peace highly favorable to the Reich.

In October of 1943, then, such a study was a tempting prospect. But is there any indication that the OKL's "study map" was anything more than a study? From the evidence presented thus far, the answer is clearly that the Luftwaffe was not merely conducting the typical staff exercises that all general staffs conduct, even in wartime. For the Luftwaffe, the study was a practical and immanent feasibility.

But what of Freier's allegations that the bomb was ready, but the delivery systems were not? Without a delivery system the German Wehrmacht could have possessed all the atom bombs it wished, but they would have been utterly useless, expensive toys, without a viable means to deliver them to its most significant militarily and economically powerful opponent.

B. Strange Flights

Did the Germans possess any strategic bombers or aircraft capable of reaching the North American continent with a significant payload, and returning to Europe? Beyond the relatively well- known Messerschmitt 264, a four engine bomber that looks far too similar to the American B-29 to be coincidental, Germany possessed in small numbers a quantity of heavy-lift, ultra-long range transport craft, including the four engine Junkers 290 and its massive six engine cousin, the Junkers 390.

Only two of these massive aircraft were ever built. The Junkers 390 assumes an odd significance here (and later) in our story, for in 1944, one such Ju 390 took off from Bordeaux, France, and flew to within 12 miles of New York City, snapped a picture of the Manhattan skyline, and flew back, a non-stop flight of 32 hours.

Within the context of the German SS atom bomb project, this flight was more than a mere feasibility study. Photo reconnaissance could only be for target identification. And the flight itself, to within 12 miles of the city, could conceivably have been a test of American air defenses and reactions. In any case, the fact that such a flight returned safely can only indicate that the American Army Air Force simply was not expecting a visit from the Luftwaffe at all, reconnaissance, feasibility study, or otherwise.

C. Unknown Cargoes and a Curious Airfield

The Ju 390 and is smaller four engine cousin the Ju 290 will play another important role in subsequent parts of this book. Hut perhaps they had a role envisioned for them in conjunction with another little-known, but nonetheless important, fact. In 1945 the Luftwaffe completed construction of an enormous airfield near Oslo, Norway, capable of handling v e r y large aircraft like the Me 264, the He 177, and the Ju 290 and 390. In an article for the June 29, 1945 issue of the Washington Post, a report that originated from 21st Army Group headquarters outlines the frightening discovery that awaited Allied military personnel who came to occupy Norway after the German forces there surrendered:

R.A.F. officers said today that the Germans had nearly completed preparations for bombing New York from a "colossal air field" near Oslo when the war ended.

It is known that Heinkel undertook special modifications of its He 177 four engine heavy bomber late in the war, adapting it to carry large atom bombs, radiological bombs, and biological and chemical bombs.2 Within the context of the SS atom bomb program and the earlier flight of the Ju 390 from France in 1944, however, a purpose immediately suggests itself. The loss of France to Allied forces in 1944 deprived the Luftwaffe of its large French airfields. Norway, however, as has already been stated, remained in German hands up until their very surrender, and thus constituted the only remaining base of operations available to the Germans for any type of offensive operation against the North American continent.

The presence of such an airfield and its deliberate construction so late in the war also strongly suggests a connection to the SS atom bomb program in an entirely different way, since its construction would likely have fallen under the jurisdiction of the SS Building and Works Department, which was under the direction of none other than SS Obergruppenfuhrer Hans Kammler. It is also significant that jurisdiction over all long range aircraft was also in Kammler's hands by war's end, thus linking the precious long-range bombers on the Oslo field to Kammler as well. Moreover, Mayer and Mehner speculate that at least two atom bombs were built and possibly transported on the mission of the U-234. In their view, the surrender of the U-boat to the American authorities thus not only provided the Manhattan Project with much-needed stocks of enriched uranium, but quite possibly also with two fully functional atom bombs as well.

Professor Friedrich Lachner was assistant for twenty years to professor Mache at the Department for Technical Physics at the Technical University of Vienna. Familiar with aspects of the German bomb project, Lachner unburdened himself of his knowledge to researchers Mayer and Mehner. Among his allegations were that at least one completed bomb of German construction was transported from Thuringia to Salzburg by the SS near the end of the war.3

Lachner's letter is intriguing for two reasons. First, because it corroborates the existence of a large atom bomb program in the Three Corners region, and corroborates Freier's allegations of a successful test in March 1945. By mentioning the transportation of such weapons out of the region, he gives some credence to the idea that the U-234 might have been used to transport at least one such weapon to Norway.4

But a more curious allegation is made in Lachner's letter to Mayer and Mehner, and with it, we begin to approach the even more horrendous potentialities of Nazi wartime secret weapons research. Citing the letter of a British espionage agent who was well-aware of the multi-tiered nature of the German atom bomb program, and who was aware of a "third team that sought another way" of making the bomb (boosted fission), 5 he then mentions a "fourth team":

Yes, and then there was also the fourth team, about which we heard rumors during the last phase of the war. This was certainly so shadowy and fantastic, that one could only construe it as a ploy. But after the war it became evident that the world had avoided a colossal catastrophe by a hair's breath.... This fourth team worked in a field that was monstrous on a daily basis. And when I say this, I meant thereby that they experimented with things that a well-informed public would to thus very day think then to be unthinkable and unbelievable, and thus imaginary. I mean to imply that these specialists worked in conceptions that totally abandoned conventional physical laws. 6

Mayer and Mehner then point out the implications of the agent's remarks in an age long accustomed to think in terms of the destructive power of hydrogen bombs:

That the Germans were working on an atom bomb no one may any longer question, but that they also possessed a team that was working on the destruction of the world is an unbelievable concept. This could only mean that there was a weapons system that possessed enormous range and degree of efficiency that lay beyond that of nuclear weapons technology. Did the Third Reich really prepare the Doomsday Weapon? And if so, where is this technology today? Was it discovered by the Allies or does it lurk secretly deep in the earth waiting for its rediscovery? If such an Ultimate Weapon has already been in existence for more than fifty years, then it is a legitimate question to ask what today's military really, actually possesses.7

The truthfulness of these stupendous allegations appears to be substantiated by a brief remark uttered by Adolf Hitler to a gathering of Axis elite in April 1944. According to Italian officer Luigi Romersa once again, who was present when Hitler made the remarks, the Fuhrer strolled through the room and said, "We have invisible aircraft, submarines, colossal tanks and cannon, unbelievably powerful rockets, and a bomb with a working that will astonish the whole world. The enemy knows this, and besieges and attempts to destroy us. But we will answer this destruction with a storm and that without unleashing a bacteriological war, for which we are also prepared.... All my words are the purest truth. That you will see! 8

Bacteriological war? Bombs with an unbelievable working? Teams of specialists working in areas that defy conventional laws of physics that would threaten a global catastrophe? This is not the picture of a Germany tinkering with V-l buzz bombs, V-2s of limited operational range and strategic value, clumsy and belated attempts to construct a working atomic reactor, and tottering on the brink of total collapse that we have been led to believe. All the evidence presented thus far tends to the opposite conclusion, that at a minimum the Third Reich possessed functioning atom bombs and was preparing to use them against the West, if she had not already done so against Russia. So the cargoes intended to fly out of that Norwegian airfield may have not only been nuclear, but something far more horrendous. Already the path through Nazi Germany's nuclear programs have led into very unexpected places and developments, developments only made possible by the recent German reunification and the declassification of German, British, and American archives that it provoked, and suggesting that behind that nuclear program lurks something even larger and far more monstrous. In any case, it now seems clear why, in spite of Oppenheimer's statement in the middle of May 1945 that the earliest an atom bomb could be ready was in November of 1945, 9 that America was able to overcome all fusing problems and fissile material shortages in a mere two months after the German surrender.

Pistorius is a (Knowing) Patsy

"The housekeeper has been referred to in several profiles of Pistorius, a world-famous Paralympic athlete, written before the shooting.

In one, written in October 2011, he is reported to be asked by Pistorius, who addresses him as “brother”, to bring him his prosthetic legs. In another, written the following year, he is referred to as a “live-in caretaker who keeps his home spotless”.

A policeman who arrived at the scene an hour after the shooting confirmed Mr Chiziweni had been sleeping in a room off the kitchen and was awake when they arrived.

He said the man spoke good English. “We said to him, you were here. What did you hear?” the policeman said, adding that he had replied: “No, no, no, I didn't hear anything”.

He said police had been unconvinced by his response: “We were all asking ourselves how he could not have heard anything,” he said.

Barry Roux, Pistorius's barrister, *said the defence would not be asking Mr Chiziweni to come to court to give evidence. *“He says he was asleep. We’re not going to be calling him.” Despite being listed as a prosecution witness, a source for the State said they would not call him either, confirming he told police in his statement he heard “absolutely nothing”.

Asked why the defence would not call Mr Chiziweni either, the source responded: “He is an employee of Mr Pistorius's. What you don’t hear can be as damaging as what you do.”

The housekeeper is the second member of South Africa's massive but often invisible domestic worker class to be referred to in the murder trial.

Congressional Black Caucus Backs Away From Farrakhan

Bowing to pressure from his membership, the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus said today that his group was distancing itself from Louis Farrakhan and his black nationalist group, the Nation of Islam.

The chairman, Representative Kweisi Mfume, said that the 40-member caucus would back away from any working relationship with the black Muslim organization and Mr. Farrakhan until black members of Congress were satisfied that the Nation of Islam was moderating its views on whites, both Jews and gentiles.

A number of black politicians, including members of the caucus, have criticized Mr. Farrakhan in recent days for his failure to condemn anti-Semitic remarks by one of his chief lieutenants.

At a news conference today, Mr. Mfume said, "It is clear that the Congressional Black Caucus's ability to work for change with the Nation of Islam, as we do and will do with other organizations within the larger African-American community, is severely jeopardized as long as there remains a question by some of our membership about the Nation of Islam's sensitivity to the right of all people and all religions to be free from attacks, vilification and defamation."

Later this afternoon, the Senate voted 97 to 0 to condemn the anti-Semitic statements. The resolution was offered by Senators John C. Danforth, Republican of Missouri, and Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, as an amendment to an education bill. Possibility of Censure?

Mr. Mfume, Democrat of Maryland, hinted that Mr. Farrakhan might adopt a more conciliatory tone as early as Thursday, when he is to hold a news conference in Washington to comment on the speech by the aide, Khalid Abdul Muhammad, in which he attacked Jews, Catholics and homosexuals.

Without saying so, Mr. Mfume, who spoke with Mr. Farrakhan today, suggested that the head of the black Muslim group might censure Mr. Muhammad for remarks he made in November at Kean College in Union, N.J.

If Mr. Farrakhan does censure Mr. Muhammad, it would be a major shift for his organization, which has preached that whites are devils and that Jews were disproportionately involved in the African slave trade.

But some senior black members of Congress said that even if the Muslim organization moderated its views, the caucus would keep its distance. "There will be no future consideration of any kind of covenant with them," said Representative Major Owen, a Brooklyn Democrat.

Repeated calls to Mr. Farrakhan's office in Chicago went unanswered.

Today's statement by Mr. Mfume drew praise from the head of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, the Jewish group whose publication of Mr. Muhammad's remarks helped prompt black leaders to denounce the speech.

"I think that Congressman Mfume did the right thing," said Abraham H. Foxman, the league's national director. "I think he should be commended for his efforts to try to bring about the change in Reverend Farrakhan's position. Although I believe in epiphany, I'm not sure it will happen."

EXPRESSING THE SENSE OF CONGRESS ON THE SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE OF THE  NATION OF ISLAM

  Mr. LANTOS. Mr. Speaker, pursuant to the order of the House of  Tuesday, February 22, 1994, I call up the resolution (H. Res. 343) to express the sense of the House of Representatives condemning the 

racist, anti-Catholic, and anti-Semitic speech given by a senior representative of the Nation of Islam and all manifestations and expressions of hatred based on race, religion, and ethnicity, and ask for its immediate consideration.

  The Clerk read the title of the resolution.

  The text of the resolution is as follows:

Whereas the United States House of Representatives strongly oppose racism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Semitism, and all forms of ethnic or religious intolerance;

       

Whereas the racist, anti-Catholic, and anti-Semitic speech given by Kahlid Abdul Muhammad of the Nation of Islam at Kean College on November 29, 1993, incites divisiveness and violence on the basis of race, religion, and ethnicity; and

       

Whereas Mr. Muhummad specifically justifies the slaughter of Jews during the Holocaust a fully deserved; disparages the Pope in the most revolting personal terms; and calls for the assassination of every white infant, child, man, and woman in South Africa: 

Now, therefore, be it

       Resolved, That the House of Representatives

       (1) condemns the speech given by Kahlid Abdul Muhammad as 

     outrageous hatemongering of the most vicious and vile kind; 

     and

       (2) condemns all manifestations and expressions of racism,

  The purpose of this resolution is to express the sense of the House of Representatives condemning the racist, anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic, homophobic speech given by a senior representative of the Nation of Islam and to condemn all manisfestations and expressions of hatred and divisiveness in our country.

  Mr. Speaker, free speech is one of the greatest values of our free society, and all of us in this House are passionately committed to its preservation. The right to free speech, however, does not confer upon anyone the privilege of being immune from the free speech of others.

  When freedom of speech is abused in a vile and vicious way to promote hatred and to incite murder on a gigantic scale, it is the duty of responsible legislative bodies to condemn such speech in clear and 

uncertain terms.

  That is exactly, Mr. Speaker, what our colleagues in the other body did, when the Senate acted unanimously, every single Republican and every single Democrat, to repudiate and condemn the evil hate-mongering of the then-national spokesman for the Nation of Islam on a college 

campus.

  The Senate resolution, which is parallel to my resolution, reads as follows:

       It is the sense of the Senate that the speech made by Mr. 

     Khalid Abdul Mohammad at Kean College on November 29, 1993, 

     was false, anti-Semitic, racist, divisive, repugnant and a 

     disservice to all Americans and is therefore condemned.

  This is the moment, Mr. Speaker, for Members of the House of Representatives to stand up and be counted on what must be one of the most criminally vicious public incitements to hatred and mass murder ever offered on an American college campus. To say that this rambling and hate-filled diatribe is racist, sexist, anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic, and homophobic is true, of course, but it does not begin to 

convey the murderous venom which drips from every utterance. Just to use one set of examples from a speech, the transcript of which takes 62 pages, let me quote relevant portions relating to racism. I will omit the abusive language for obvious reasons.

  At a time when responsible black and white leaders in South Africa are engaged in the difficult task of building a democratic multiracial society, Khalid Abdul Mohammad issues a bloodthirsty call for mass 

murder.

     "  We kill the women. We kill the children. We kill the babies. We kill the blind. We kill the crippled. We kill them all. We kill the faggot. We kill the lesbian. We kill them all.

       Why kill the women? Because they lay on their back, they are the military or the army's manufacturing center. They lay  on their back and reinforcements roll out from between their legs. So we kill the women, too.

       You'll kill the elders, too? Kill the old ones, too. 

     Goddamit, if they are in a wheelchair, push them off a cliff in Capetown or Johannesburg. I said kill the blind, kill the crippled, kill the crazy. Goddamit. And when you get through killing them all, go to the goddamn graveyard and dig up the grave and kill them goddamn again, because they didn't die hard enough. They didn't die hard enough. And if you have killed them all and you don't have the strength to dig them up, then take your gun and shoot in the goddamn grave.

       Kill them again. Kill them again, because they didn't die hard enough. "

  Mr. Speaker, 62 pages of this dialog is not free speech. It is the 

opposite of free speech. It is an attempt to incite hatred and division 

in this complex, multiethnic, multireligious society, which has a 

difficult time, without these incitements to hate and murder, to 

function in a civil way.

  But we are not just dealing with events in this country. We are 

dealing with a daily diet of the evening news, mass rapes and ethnic 

cleansing in the former Yugoslavia, where 200,000 innocent civilians 

have been killed in the last 22 months because of words of hate and 

bigotry spoken in a similar vein.

  A few weeks ago, Mr. Speaker, six little children frolicking in the 

snow in Sarajevo were killed because of words of this kind. And 2 weeks 

ago, 68 innocent civilians, men, women and children, were killed in the 

open market of the city of Sarajevo.

  Now, there are colleagues in this House who might claim that these 

are mere words. Let me remind them that the Holocaust did not begin 

with the gas chambers. It began with words, words of hate and bigotry, 

calling for mass murder. And mass murder they did.

  Mr. Speaker, I ask that excerpts of the speech of Khalid Abdul 

Mohammad be placed in the Record, and I urge my colleagues to see the 

kind of vicious, hate-filled statements it contains.

Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam Claim They Are Moving Toward Moderation and Increased Tolerance--You Decide

      " Brothers and sisters--the so-called Jew, and I must say so-

     called Jew, because you're not the true Jew. You are Johnny-

     come-lately-Jew, who just crawled out of the caves and hills 

     of Europe just a little over 4,000 years ago. You're not from 

     the original people. You are a European strain of people who 

     crawled around on all fours in the caves and hills of Europe 

     eating Juniper roots and eating each other.

       Who are the slumlords in the black community? The so-called 

     Jew who is sucking our blood in the black community. A white 

     imposter Arab and a white imposter Jew, right in the black 

     community, sucking our blood on a daily and consistent basis. 

     They sell us pork and they don't even eat it themselves. A 

     meat case full of rotten pork meat, and the imposter Arab and 

     the imposter white Jew, neither of them eat it themselves. A 

     wall full of liquor keeping our people drunk and out of their 

     head, and filled with the swill of the swine, affecting their 

     minds. They're the blood suckers of the black nation and the 

     black community. Professor Griff was right when he spoke 

     here--and when he spoke in the general vicinity of Jersey and 

     New York, and when he spoke at Columbia Jew-niversity (sic) 

     over in Jew (sic) York City. He was right.

       The DeBeers mines, Oppenheimer, our people, our brothers 

     and sisters in South Africa, hundreds of them lose their 

     lives. Sometimes thousands in those mines. Miles underground 

     mining diamonds for white Jews. That's why you call yourself 

     Mr. Reubenstein, Mr. Goldstein, Mr. Silverstein. Because you 

     been stealing rubies and gold and silver all over the earth. 

     That's why we can't even wear a ring or a bracelet or a 

     necklace without calling it Jew-erly We say it real quick and 

     call it jewelry, but it's not jewelry it's Jew-elry cause 

     you're the rogue that's stealing all over the face of the 

     planet earth.

       You see everybody always talk about Hitler exterminating 6 

     million Jews. That's right. But don't nobody ever ask what 

     did they do to Hitler. What did they do to them folks? They 

     went in there, in Germany, the way they do everywhere they 

     go, and they supplanted, they usurped, they turned around and 

     a German, in his own country, would almost have to go to a 

     Jew to get money. They had undermined the very fabric of the 

     society. Now he was an arrogant no-good devil bastard. 

     Hitler, no question about it. He was wickedly great. Yes, he 

     was. He used his greatness for evil and wickedness. But they 

     are wickedly great too, brother. Everywhere they go, and they

       We don't owe the white man nothin' in South Africa. He's 

     killed millions of our women, our children, our babies, our 

     elders. We don't owe him nothing in South Africa. If we want 

     to be merciful at all, when we gain enough power from God 

     Almighty to take our freedom and independence from him, we 

     give him 24 hours to get out of town, by sundown. That's all. 

     If he won't get out of town by sundown, we kill everything 

     white that ain't right (inaudible) in South Africa. We kill 

     the women, we kill the children, we kill the babies. We kill

       But [they] also are most influential in newspaper, 

     magazine, print media and electronic media.

       These people have had a secret relationship with us. They 

     have our entertainers in their hip pocket. In the palm of 

     their hand, I should say. They have our athletes in the palm 

     of their hand.

       Many of our politicians are in the palm of the white man's 

     hand, but in particular, in the palm of the Jewish white 

     man's hand.

       The Jews have told us, the so-called Jews have told us, ve 

     (sic) ve, ve suffer like you. Ve, ve, ve, ve marched with Dr. 

     Martin Luther King, Jr. Ve, ve, ve were in Selma, Alabama. 

     Ve, ve were in Montgomery, Alabama. Ve, ve were in

     civil rights marches. Ve have always supported you. But let's 

     take a look at it. The Jews, the so-called Jews, what they 

     have actually done, brothers and sisters, is used us as 

     cannon fodder.

       Go to the Vatican in Rome, when the old, no-good Pope, you 

     know that cracker. Somebody need to raise that dress up and 

     see what's really under there.
