Anne Grande Dame

JOAN :
You're gonna get yourself in a lot of Trouble.

ANNE puts the files down, faces JOAN.

ANNE :
I don't want any Trouble.

I just want to be alone and quiet, you know, with a chair, and a fireplace, and a tea cozy.
I'm not even sure what a tea cozy is, but I want one.

Instead, I get Trouble.
Which I am willing to share.

The winter here's cold and bitter
It's chilled us to the bone
We haven't seen the sun for weeks
To long too far from home
I feel just like I'm sinking
And I claw for solid ground
I'm pulled down by the undertow
I never thought I could feel so low
Oh darkness I feel like letting go
If all of the strength and all of the courage
Come and lift me from this place
I know I could love you much better than this
Full of grace
Full of grace
My love
So it's better this way, I said
Having seen this place before
Where everything we said and did
Hurts us all the more
Its just that we stayed, too long
In the same old sickly skin
I'm pulled down by the undertow
I never thought I could feel so low
Oh darkness I feel like letting go
If all of the strength
And all of the courage
Come and lift me from this place
I know I could love you much better than this
Full of grace
Full of grace
My love

Gunn: “What if I told you it doesn't help? What would you do if you found out that none of it matters? That it's all controlled by forces more powerful and uncaring than we can conceive, and they will never let it get better down here. What would you do?”
(Long, Meaningful Pause)
Anne: “I'd get this truck packed before the new stuff gets here.”
